A roster player and our top goaltending prospect for a player who was their 7th dman last year and a player they exposed in the draft in hopes to be rid of. Would be a terrible trade for us - Codes1087
maybe not best goalie prospect after Friday

Losing Hedman would be a pretty sizable blow. - NorthNuck
100%, but they would still be a top team in the east

I think the rumors are true that Holtby is gone, we need MDP. No idea who Gavrikov is but it seems like they still add. Domi is at an all-time low for value. - Retinalz
he was CBJ's 2nd best dman and outplayed Schmidt last year |

Depends on position, etc. but at $10M, as the #1 centre he is either driving the bus or he isn't...if he isn't, then you get the Sabres. - CoolerHeads
You could exchange McKinnon/McDavid/Crosby/whoever for Eichel and that team would still be a terrible team.
I agree that the most paid player (especially over 10 mil) has to lead the team... but that Buff roster is horrible. |

Less points, worse +/-, bottom pairing and occasional 2nd pair vs schmidt, more points, better +/-, vs top lines. This is not a true statement. |

I disagree, might not be much of a change the first year but Crosby would change the culture pretty quick (i.e. into a winning mentality) and McKinnon/McDavid would bring a level of pace that would greatly improve their chances of at least sniffing the playoffs...definitely wouldn't be the tire fire it is. |

I hate to admit it, but edler and Schmidt at one point in the season were one of the top 5 best defensive shut down pairings in the league.
Again, stats don't lie. Everybody has their preconceived opinions about players due to outside factors, but again, stats don't lie.
Would I rather gavrikov and his cap hit relative to Schmidt and his? Of course. But he wasn't better than Schmidt in any way last year relative to his matchups, competition, overall TOI, etc. |

Schmidt is good, no denying that
I like Gavrikov too, ideally we have both |

I like gavrikov too, thought he would have been a great but low option, same with pettersson. Team needs so much more than both to actually be good defensively though. We are so bad defensively |
