I really wouldn’t call Ek a moron, the guy has found a way to make a living of what he likes to do in life and everyone should be so lucky to love their job. He’s also a really nice guy and fun to chat with. I’m even more blessed to be honest because I’ve got a day job that I really enjoy (we prosecute scum bags who fraud people) and then I’ve got this side gig that allows me to channel my passion for this team. Believe it or not, having this outlet has been life saving during the pandemic, it was a brilliant way to take my mind off things and I think the writing has improved as well, plus, I actually ended up on the press gallery to cover the Stanley Cup final featuring my Habs... It doesn’t get much better than this if you ask me

Price is not leaving, and Danault is not worth his ask......Danault can be replaced, even improved on in that replacement.
- Frozendisc

Oh he can be replaced yes but will he? Good centres are hard to find, very hard to find. Took years for the Habs to get a respectable centre line and I would really like them to make sure they don’t regress in that respect...

I'm fine with moving forward with Suzuki/KK/Poehling/Evans.

There will be groing pains, but it's better than overpaying Danault.

Despite his great job as a defensive specialist, he'd become part of the problem if he becomes a cap anchor.

I don’t think MB will go for all youth...he’ll look to free agency for an experienced centre if Danault bolts... I think anyways but this fun offseason will tell

Oh I can totally understand why he might want out, with the prospect of a year without Weber and Danault not likely to come back, maybe he thinks things are going back down this season and he wants to go back home (or near there) and I don’t think anymore can blame him for it. Thing is though, it would hurt to lose that kind of player for nothing but cap space...I mean the guy has more wins than any goalie in the red, white and blue and he’s pretty much guaranteed a spot in the rafters now, I just find it sad if that’s the way he makes his exit...not as bad as Roy’s or Lafleur’s but still not pretty either. Perhaps that’s the sentimentalist in me lol

I respect what Price has done in terms of performance thus far in his career, he's won everything short of the stanley cup. That said, from a cold hard logic perspective, he is only going to get worse at this point in his career and the dropoff might be even sharper than expected with his possible upcoming surgery. Having these big anchor contracts come off of the books opens up alot of possibilities at a time when cap space is more valuable than ever. To be honest though, I don't think Price will be picked for the reasons I mentioned, Seattle has loads of decent younger goalies to pick from, if they were to take him it would be for the name alone.

Also, am I the only person that finds it a bit strange that now both Weber and Price are exposed.

Both now are flawed and require time off and or surgery?

I hope Francis sees through this bs..

so, you wouldn't want the BS to work, if it is BS..?

edit: oh because if it is BS, that means they're not injured and he'll grab one of them, gotcha. lol

With Danault looking to leave from the small difference in $, it really means he is not really meant to be a Hab and he also doesn’t enjoy the spotlight

Sounds about right.

But I'm also fine if Price stays. The man can still goal when we need him to.

Yeah for sure, if he leaves we're defintiely in a rebuild/retool, keeping him and Allen means the list of holes to fill isn't quite as bad as it was.

If he wants to play for the Habs, I have a very difficult time believing Bergevin wouldn't be willing to go up to 5.5 or maybe even 6. I'd say Danault is asking for 7 million plus and is going to play in a garbage dump hockey market to get as much as possible. Calling it now.
