I think Fleury is their pick. Could go Kulak as well.

Too much of a gamble for them with his health.

- deadpoulet

I don't think they are buying the very serious injury potential for Price, worse case scenario he is out a couple months. It's the terms of his deal that is a deterrent IMO

I'm in the "please take Price" bandwagon...would be the face of Seattle's franchise and probably help them sell tickets. Habs would save lots of cap space to sign a cheaper goalie.

timing is horrible to lose Price but it is the last chance they have to move this contract

Edit: without keeping a decent percentage of his cap hit or trading for another garbage contract

What day are we? Is it wednesday yet?

I want to offer my take on the exposed Price situation. I think there is two way of seeing it.

The first is that if the Kraken takes Price, its going to alleviate the cap for Montréal and it is unlikely that Price lives up to the albatros contract he signed. Price is getting older, is hurt and was very ordinary in last regular seasons. So, him getting off the books would be a good thing. No way Seattle is picking him though.

The other way of seeing it is that Price is the most successful goalie in recent habs history, he was elite in playoffs, he probably asked to be moved as no gm would expose his Mercedes to protect his Lada backup goalie. He will be missed and will be extremely difficult to replace. Seattle picking him would make the habs regress and is a bad thing. The second he was left exposed, the decision to select him was made by Francis.

I thought i would add those precisions to the debate. I think it's not all angles of the situation that has been covered by our informed community.

What do you all think? Id like to know your opinions on the subject.

If I had a Mercedes that I paid way more for than it’s worth, and every once in a while it gave a really nice ride, but is starting to spend more time in the shop than on the road.

And now is booked in again to the shop and someone might take it off my hands.

I need that Lada for my next road trip..

completely disagree. this is the least likely way for them to move his contract. Price would be much more attractive to a team if Montreal either ate a not insignificant portion of the cap hit and/or took on someone else's cap hit. so like... trading him to Edmonton in a deal involving Lucic.

obviously, I meant moving his contract without taking on garbage or keeping a decent chunk of his cap hit which make the trade not attractive

This is win win situation, Montréal trades Price to Edmonton for Lucic but doesnt get Lucic in return.

Hi kick, I would like you to know that I am the only one to have a genuinely rational opinion on the topic. And that I'm not trolling because a lot of people think just like me.

despite the injury risk and the contract, i simply don't see how Seattle doesn't take price for the marketing aspect and star power. Can you imagine how many jerseys they would sell?
