Im guessing they will be making a lot of deals later in the summer, because as it is, The Kraken suck balls.

It’s like they’re drafting for a tank job lol

shows you how little value players on our team have
- 2Real

There have been a ton of big time players passed on. It’s not unique to the Flyers.

Makes me wonder if they have a pocket deal with Hamilton and are just waiting to announce it later so they could grab Geekie (size, speed and is developing well).

Shocked it wasnt Bean, but seems like Francis may have a few cards up his sleeve and is waiting so he can grab an extra player without burning his spot

- juiced

Doubt it. Letting Hamilton hit the open market would be too dangerous. Would just take one other team anteing up to leave them holding their Richards.

Francis knows the 'Canes pipeline inside and out. Geekie's actually got good upside.

The news is that Hakstol really liked Twarinski when he was here.

The thing is, after this expansion draft, Seattle appears to have some giant cap space and players that are likely easy to move back in other deals. Certainly they are in a position to be that proverbial third team who extorts draft picks and other assets to help facilitate cap relief. Seems, however, at this point to be the polar opposite of what Vegas did. I guess we’ll see.

Why are picks being leaked? It takes the suspense out of watching the draft. Did this happen with the LV expansion draft as well?
- PLindbergh31

Because insiders need to justify their jobs. I’m actually annoyed because I was looking forward to watching tonight. Goes to show how pathetic my life is lol.

Not like anybody thought Vegas would be any good after their expansion draft.

And the Hakstol hiring strongly indicated that they would go young.

He already tried to sign Landeskog, Schwartz and Hamilton. Larsson, Oleksiak and Driedger successfully signed.

And even if teams balked at the asking price for cap dumps in the ED, doesn't mean they won't have to come back later in the summer even more desperate to lose salary.

Francis has the entire league over a barrel and he knows it.

That is what I see too. Francis said a few days ago that the biggest asset in today's age is cap space.

He is playing chicken with 31 other teams, calling their bluff and taking things closer to the limit to jack up the 'sweetener price.'

He is not very concerned with fielding a competitive team this year if the strategy fails for any reason, that much is clear.

Pretty much. Capped out and uncompetitive. Kids better all take a big step forward.
- Tomahawk

I can't imagine bringing in Ellis, if you are keeping the rest of the roster intact. Makes zero sense.

I don’t think Fletch is done at all. If he had to burn a pick or a future pick to fix this roster I don’t see why he wouldn’t. We know this group does not work.

Fletcher doing the right thing by not playing ball with Seattle. Let them have a low money plug and good luck to you.

Obviously Bias For Action is going to play into the rest of the summer so I’m sure this team will still arrive at destination Capped and Uncompetitive soon.

Man, I'll tell you what, I'm getting an education on marginal NHL players as I follow this expansion draft. I haven't heard of half of these players even.

I wonder who is more unhappy right now with all the picks being leaked out, The NHL or ESPN?

How are we arguing that we are worse than last season now?
