Not my first choice that’s for sure but at the same time I don’t think he stinks lol - Isles
He had some pretty putrid moments in the Bruins series. I'd be fine with him getting bottom pair minutes, but not sure that Greene can candle 2nd pair minutes.
If Suter does go to Dallas, it may have to be a bargain-basement deal for someone like him though.
I still think Hoffman/Palmieri would be formidable additions, if they could find a way to make them fit. |

At this moment I am looking to sign all our big RFAS and cizikas and palms. If we have cap space after that then have at it. Pelech is getting between 6 and 7 million aav. Sorokin is getting 5 plus beau is getting 4.5. Then cizikas and palms - Hockeyislife
do just those moves make us better than last year? i know we would have a healthy lee back, but losing eberle/leddy, no great replacement for them, and just bringing back palmieri - dont think we are much better, if at all. need to make a bigger splash than just that imo. |

Sounds like DAL is going to be it though. Friedman had talked about it on his podcast at the end of the week I believe. Nothing guaranteed and he thinks the Isles are still in it, but it looks like he and DAL have some mutual interest and they seem to be the front runner. - eichiefs9
Dallas!?!
Huh. That certainly comes as a surprise. Decent team yes. Contender… meh. |

I think ultimately Palmieri and Eberle will, more or less, be an even trade. Leddy was a damn fine player, but he wasn't without warts. I think, and it seems to maybe be a bit of a longshot at this point, adding Palmieri/Suter/Parise and losing Eberle/Leddy/Komarov would honestly be an incrementally-better team.
Palmieri fits the Isles style a bit better than Eberle and will probably post about the same amount of points. Suter isn't going to score a ton, but he is significantly better in his own end then Leddy is. Suter/Mayfield would be a solid shutdown pair and I think playing with Suter would be good for Mayfield. |

Yeah, I dunno. Maybe he wants some combination of "competitive team" and "most money" instead of going full-bore for one or the other. |

If they land a big fish at wing do you trade Beau for a top 4 defenseman if Suter goes somewhere else?

#Isles have cleared $16.5-million in cap space the last five days. Gave up some capital to do it, but Lou Lamoriello has room to maneuver now. - eichiefs9
Reminds me of Dubas clearing cap space like Marleau for room to maneuver. Posters here were not praising him as much. They said "well he only had to do these things because he ran himself out of cap space".
Boychuk $6M, Komarov $3M, Brock Nelson $6M, Anders Lee $7M. Lots of overpaid players there.
Thank god he's got Barry Trotz coaching that team.

I literally have no idea what to expect the rest of this offseason. Entirely possible we just end up making a trade for somebody that no one saw coming also. |

Lou can make a surprise trade or FA signing for sure. This year though with players like Parise, Suter, Palms, and Landy, you would think these are players Lou focuses on but you never really know with Lou. |

My best guess is they sign our UFA’s, RFA’s, Palmieri, and Parise. Then try to sign suter but don’t and sign some other lower salary D man. I don’t see a scenario where any of these big names get signed unless he finds a way to jettisons some more salary. |

Those are not over paid players.. fyi. they would have gotten more on the open market. Lee is a 30 goal a year player that has scored 40 before and is everything to this team. Brock is a solid 2 way center that scored 25 a year and is HUGE in the playoffs shutting down guys like Crosby, perfection line and holding the Bolts off the scoreboard.
Boychuk is LTIR and when he signed that deal he was the begining of the turn around here... Leo is overpaid sure.. but not by a lot. There are MUCH worse teams with horrific contacts than the Isles who have 24 mill in cap space.

Beau is one of the top forwards on this team. WTF is everyone in a hurry to trade the one guy who is 100 MPH every shift, goes into the corners, creates turnovers and scores big goals.

Kosiken was all the rage when we drafted him. The organization was big on him. - Cptmjl
2009 Draft.. took Koskinen with the first pick in the Second round and then inexplicably took Anders Nilsson with the first pick in the 3rd round. .. I guess is one 6' 6" goalie didn't work the other one would??

Maybe. They have the cap space to accommodate him and the ability to lose some draft capital and prospects and/or younger players. Not sure he'll accept a trade there though, that's the kicker.
I am sure he'd accept a trade here, but not as confident that the Isles have or would part with the pieces it'd take to get him. Might cost us Beau. - eichiefs9
So do the Isles despite your nonstop cap worries.

Hearing Vegas @GoldenKnights are closing in on an extension to keep D Alec Martinez off the market.
Expect Martinez to come in around $5 million, perhaps a little more, on a three-year deal.

Another D-man off the market - eichiefs9

I agree that at the end of the day Pelech will get around 6-7 mill AAV. (he supposedly asked for $7)
I don't see any shot of Sorokin getting 5. He is an RFA that made 1 mill last year (although the signing bonus the year before to watch the playoffs was $1mill so he kinda made $2mill his first NHL season), and will continue to be a back up this year. I would be shocked if he got more than $3mill and expect him to be closer to a $2.5 mill like Giorgieve.
Casey asked for $5 mill AAV from Seattle so that is the High point.. my guess is he comes in around 3.5 -4.
Beau it depends on how long he signs for by my guess is 4-5 aav.
No clue what Palmieri is looking for but it sounds close to done.

I'm sure they will get the full medical OK before he makes the trade, but his doctor came out and said he is 100% which is pretty rare.

He’s the fan of a team that hasn’t made it out of the first round in I’m not even sure how long and currently have 35 million annually tied up in three players. |
