Last night was corny as heck but I actually watched the whole thing for some reason. I was a bit shocked how much Ebs embraced the whole thing.. he was there, gave a ton of interviews, tweeted about how excited he was..etc. I know that is what was expected of him and what most players were supposed to do ... I was just surprised how much he embraced it.
I can't imagine that Bailey would have been that OK with the move .. maybe that was one of the reasons they took Eberle instead of Bailey.
Over all I am not blown away by this Seattle team. They obviously went young talent and kept their cap room. It will be interesting to see their finished product in October as they have a ton of money they HAVE to spend and even more room. will they continue to think of the future and help teams out with Cap room for picks and prospects or will they just offer a ton of money to UFA's? - niteislander
What was corny was that my son and I listened to via internet radio on the way to his hockey showcase. The radio hosts were laughable. One guy said that he was happy that the got Eberle as that was the one guy he wanted. Thought Vegas draft was better.

I really don't think Landeskog is going anywhere so refuse to get to excited about the idea. Tarasenko they can do if they want but would need to lose Leo and hickey via trade or buy out. They have plenty of room to do whatever they want.
if you pay pelech 7 mill , Casey 3 mill, Beau 5 mill, Sorokin 3 mill .. you still have 1 mill and Boychuk's number. Want more buy out Leo and hickey.. that's 3 mill more or trade them with a pick and it's 6.5 mill more... They can do whatever they need if they have to make room. they don't right now. - niteislander
I don't see beau getting 5 I see less. And I see sorokin getting more.

I still think it's going to be:
Pelech - $6Mx6
Beau-$4Mx3
Sorokin - $3Mx3
Cizikas - $3Mx5
I could see Pelech getting $7M, but only if Lou locks him up for the full 8 years |

I don’t think Pelech tops 5 per, but I’m probably in the minority. |

I love Pelech but I don't think he puts up enough points to get 7 million a year. I'd say 5.5-6 million at most |

That seems to be appropriate prices. Carry on and get them signed. |

Agreed that Pelech is not $7m. Very top end, especially nowadays, would probably be $6m |

Question, Schwiener. How suicidal/murderous is the Oilers thread? |

Why are they pushing to sign Hyman when they need defense and a goalie? |

7 seems steep for the offense Pelech brings. Have to think 6 mill will work? |

I agree, Carlo signing in Boston at 4.1 for 6 years is pretty comparable. Pelech maybe gets a bump to 4.5 mil.
This is what I see.
Pelech - $4.5 for 5 or 6
Beau-$3.5 for 3 or 4 for 6
Sorokin - $2.5 for 1 or 3 for 4
Cizikas - $2 to 3 depending on term. Longer lower obviously.
Pretty similar for the most part. |

Yea but if he's going to pretty much forego getting another contract for the remainder of the prime of his career, I'd say the org would have to pay a premium for that.
If Pelech comes in under $6M I'll be ecstatic |

Because Holland is their GM. Apparently he read Snowballs book on how to GM a hockey team. |

Can they do an escalation type salary where he gets more money down the line? If so, would that reflect in the cap? |

I've seen other posters on HB correctly point out Holland won with the Wings based on work others did. |

Way to much $$$, Pelech will see abt $4.5-5m per
Casey $2m
Beau $4-4.5m or traded |

I like where you have Pelech & Beau, but I think you're low on Zeeker. I think he'll be about $3-3.5. |

Zeeker is coming off a $3m per salary and didnt live up to it except 1yr, def dont think he'll make another $3m per oof peace-out zeeker |

What would a team have to give up to trade for McDavid. With Holland in charge its only a matter of time before he wants out of that disaster. |

Cap hit is just the annual average value of the contract.
So if it's 5 years $25M then the cap his is $5M whether he gets paid $5M every year of the deal or if it's $8M, $3M, $6M, $6M, $2M over the term of the contract. |

Zeeker is exactly what Trotz wants. Heart and sole player and Lou protected Cal and MM to keep that line together.
Zeeker will be signed. $2 to $3 depending on the length of the deal. |
