Zeeker is coming off a $3m per salary and didnt live up to it except 1yr, def dont think he'll make another $3m per oof peace-out zeeker
- Hell_Bent

Casey's agent is just going to show Lou what Goodrow just signed for with the Rangers. Cizikas is probably getting $3M.

scoring goals, had that 1 breakout season that ppl thought he was a 3rd liner
- Hell_Bent

When did anyone ever expect Cizikas to be a goal scorer?

Cap hit is just the annual average value of the contract.

So if it's 5 years $25M then the cap his is $5M whether he gets paid $5M every year of the deal or if it's $8M, $3M, $6M, $6M, $2M over the term of the contract.

- eichiefs9

I kind of thought the cap was an average of the salary, just wasn't sure. Thanks for clarifying.

So I should get ready for another overpaid 4th liner

I thought Casey can make it as a 3C but not top 6.

He's not a goal scorer. He's a 4th line grinder/agitator. Yes he chips in a few goals a year but not what he gets paid to do.

I think Lou will try to use longer term on most of these deals expecting the cap to go up nicely in the future with the new ESPN TV deal and once the revenues begin to climb to normal levels for a couple years.

Agreed that Pelech is not $7m. Very top end, especially nowadays, would probably be $6m
- Isleshockeyman

I was going high end on all just to show how much $$ we have

Agreed. A lot of times he's out for the opening faceoff though. Going against other teams top lines.

He signed his last contract in June of 2016 and had his 20g season in 2018-19, I'm still not really following this. I don't think anyone expected him to continue being a regular 20g scorer.

Issue with Casey has always been about health and not that he has no talent.

I'm sure he'd love to sign them all to long term deals, not sure he'll get them all to do that. I do think he does it with Cizikas though, because we can't give him a raise in terms if AAV, but they can even out the total money earned a little by giving him extra years.

He scored 20 goals in 18-19, 10 goals in 19-20. Outside of those 2 years he's single digit goals. Not a goal scorer. Certainly not the type of player "most" thought he was. Might be what you thought he was going to be, but I think most here knew what type of player he is.

I agree, he's not a goal scorer but from that 1 season, ppl thought that. He's a good player on the 4th line, anything over $2m is horrible, sorry I get it but just my opinion in a cap era

Rangers need Goodrow type players to take the next step so they have to pay him well so he signs.
Casey wants to be an Islander so I think Casey will def work a deal that keeps him an Islander.

Not sure what people you're talking about but here most of us know the player he is. If he gets 10-12 goals, that's just extra gravy.

This is what I am expecting.. kind of like last time when we had Brock, Eb, Lee, etc. all as UFA. When they come in at this number or Lower it will make me happy. If it is over this number I will be slightly annoyed.. but more than likely the nuber will be less

Pelech 7 years $7 mill AAV ($6 would be great ..he is one of the best D-men in game)

Beau 5 years $5 mill AAV (I honestly think he gets better every year and is worth it. he is the one guy who constantly goes into the corners, forechecks, and battles for puck and can score.. his only issue is loses guys in D-zone when he back checks. He gets back but doesn't take the man... )

Casey- 3 years $3 mill aav - Huge part of this team both on the ice and in the locker room. I would love him to get less but as a UFA that has scored 20 goals the last year he was healthy, kills penalties, and comes up with huge plays in big spots.. )

Sorokin 2 years $3 mill AAV - this one will probably be lower but going to put that number in my head.

Agreed will be tough but you have to think this team wants to stay together to get the job they set out to do, done. That helps imho.
On Casey $3 x 3 is max. However if you can go longer term $2 for 5 works for both as well. Both want a deal so I’m wondering what Casey signs for. Going to be interesting.

I definitely want him on the team.

Both want a deal, you know Casey wants to be here and no where else as the Islanders want him back as well.

Question, Schwiener. How suicidal/murderous is the Oilers thread?

Let’s just say, you’ll probably see a (frank)load of Kraken jerseys when the visit Edmonton.

Why are they pushing to sign Hyman when they need defense and a goalie?
- ses111

What do you mean?

They signed Smith and are going to sign Barrie. Everything is fine in Oil town. Just ask Holland.
