I don’t know if they’re representative of the fan base because they’re pretty plugged in and knowledgeable but my buddies were basically out on Bowman when Q got sacrificed for his job and think that Bowman should have been the one axed.

It's funny because it's absolutely true. He would be sitting in front of his TV and a half hour goes by without his name being mentioned and he would have made a random trade with the first GM to pick up their phone.

Agreed, just saying what it looks like from his comments on probably not doing anything in free agency. I’m not deluded. I know we have basically nothing of worth to trade so I wasn’t expecting to be involved in any major draft day moves, but I am really discouraged by his comments on free agency after clearing a decent chunk of cap.

What "long pant" defensive man are available that would be worth getting in free agency?

This draft is better than the expansion draft from a presentation standpoint (that isnt a high bar), but a few thoughts:

1. The Draft sucks when it isnt in person. It was so much fun back in 2012 when Pittsburgh had. One of my favorite non-hockey game events.

2. Damn, these prospects need some personality.

3. Glad Kevin Weekes isnt in an organization. Guy is a good ambassador and analyst for ESPN.

Hextall is the anti-Rutherford. Nothing leaks out and he never says what he's really thinking. It's going to take some getting used to. I'm positive the Pens will spend every inch of cap space.

Agreed. I took that comment as what might happen if he can't clear space, and it sounds like he's trying to clear space. Hoping he turns some guys into picks tomorrow like someone mentioned. Also glad goalie seems to be his top priority. Waiting to see how it all plays out.
