If he can flip Jarry for either Lehner or Kuemper then I'd consider that a win. - Rinosaur
That would be awesome. One of those 2, resign Ceci - Erod - Gaudreau, and get a bargain bin middle 6 winger. I'd take that. |

how cheap could Tarensanko be had for? - sammy87
Zucker hopefully. Then trade Pettersson to the Wild and grab 1 of Coleman/Wennberg/Schwartz/Saad/Tatar while he’s at it as a UFA. Sign Ceci or Montour for RD for 2.5 |

Seems like McCann and Tanev were just victims of cap space. Cap isn’t going up like projected due to Covid. McCann is getting a decent raise next year. Obviously seems like the team values ZAR over Tanev.
Tarasenko is interesting. Are the blues just trying to dump his cap space? Or are they actually trying to improve the team from a trade |

Signed Foligno for one season at $2.5 - He can fill in at C then move to LW when Geno comes back.
The Zucker trade is to dump cap, so the return isn't great, but Wagner brings that Tanev element and for a fourth liner isn't terrible.
Gusev could be a good cheap gamble.
I guessed on Ritche's salary, so I could be totally off.
Still $1.3M free with this team.

Kassian fits the narrative of getting bigger and tougher though. Losing Tanev goes backwards from that
But Tanev isn't big. Listed at 6' 180 lbs, (close to Wayne Gretzky) and those are usually generous. Moving Tanev is backwards from tough to play against, but that contract...., My bet is the mileage and wear will take it's toll well before it runs out. A good comp is Matthew Barnaby who was absolutely done in his age 32 year
I can't help wondering if Hextall had an unofficial side deal that made both McCann and Tanev available. That would explain Seattle taking Tanev without (officially) added pieces or a cap holdback AND Tanev being there to show off the jersey. |

Ritchie seems like a guy Burke would like. I think Russo has reported that Foligno is signing in Minnesota to play with his brother. |

So how nervous are you guys about the moves he’s gonna make in the next week? - Feds91Stammer
I think/hope it's going to be pretty quite to start off with. Most of everyone's major gripes were that Rutherford rushed into deals and out bid himself. I feel Hex will be a sharp contrast.
The Pens have a little cap space, they have to use it wisely! We don't need a big splash, we need hardworking grinders....
Though getting rid of McCann before the draft leads me to believe they have someone in mind. Wouldn't Macann's value be greater after the draft? (That is if Sea didn't take him for nothing) |

Ah ok. I’m trying to identify UFA players who can play both C and W the Pens can afford.

Landeskog would be awesome and could fill in for Malkin for a while. Rumor in Denver is he wants $8+. |

Quotes not working... but I'd be all about Warren Foegele.
It'd get real interesting if there was a Foegele/Bean package trade to make. |

Before any move with him would be made they would need to settle on a pronunciation…is it Joel or Yo-el or what? |

Since McCann is a 3rd liner and Tanev's ceiling is a 3rd liner (and an overpaid 4th liner that we just choose to use as a luxury on the 4th line) then we got 6.5 million in cap to find 2 guys with 3rd line effectiveness
Would it be a 5 million dollar player with Top 6 upside and an ELC player? both with pants in the long-ish variety?
Could we free up the Petts cap hit and add it to the 6.5 Million and be a player for a bonafide Top 6 player and move Zuck down to the 3rd line to play with Carter and ELC player? Replace Petts with a FA or an ELC like POJ?
Hopefully some of the $$ can provide an upgrade in goal. Not just adding a 3.5 Millionish backup to Jarry. Jarry moves out and we go with a new #1 with a salary in the 5-6 Million range to pair with DeSmith
Trade Petts, have 10.5 Million in Cap. Use 2 to replace Petts, 1.5-2 to upgrade Jarry, an ELC guy and a 5-6 Million player (Saad?) to play in the Top 6. Zucker goes to the 3rd line with Carter.
Out - 14 Million
McCann 3.0
Tanev 3.5
Petts 4.0
Jarry 3.5
In - 13.5 Million
Saad (5.5)
ELC (1.0)
Free Agent D (2.0)
Goalie (5.5)
Jake Sid Rust
Saad Geno Kap
Zucker Carter ELC
ZAR Blueger Gaudreau
Dumo Letang
POJ Marino
FA Matheson
Good Goalie

Yah, the list is pretty small. I think that's what makes re-signing Freddy a pretty important move for the bottom 6. Sullivan really trusted him. |

They need to clear cap just because. They have Schwartz to try to resign this year and Parayko next year. If they want an easy replacement for Dunn, I'd gladly do Pettersson for Tarasenko straight up.
Its a big risk, but I personally think Tarasenko is going to be a man on fire this year. He might not put up 30+ goals but I bet he puts up 25 and gets closer to a PPG level in the right situation.

I agree but Im thinking the bottom 6 is where they might add size and bottom 6 size is much cheaper than top 6 to both acquire and pay...I hope I'm wrong and them going for bottom 6 size doesn't leave an effective and cheap player like Freddy not there in September. |
