No even if CBJ didn’t send them a pick which supposedly they didn’t. Just basically, everyone sucks, but this guy is the cheapest so it’s a dead roster spot anyway.

It really is unbelievable that the Sabres haven't given teams access to Eichel's medical records. Does the league have any bylaws that could come into play if a trade is made and then they find out the true status of his medical condition?

It's crazy to me to think that a team could make a huge trade for him and there is the possibility that he can't play for a long time - if ever - again.

They don’t have to, the team making the trade takes all the risk. If the injury wasn’t bad they’d be letting teams see it’s not that bad so they could just move him. There’s obviously something there that’s very concerning.

Thing is Im sure a player has to clear a physical but Im curious what the situation is when the player is knowingly injured.

The league would have to step in at that point. He’s only projected to miss 4 weeks of the regular season. If they held him out an additional 16 weeks that’s insanity

Yup. And allowed them an extra 750k or so to take on a bad contract. They probably looked at it as the best player available from CBJ is worth X. The cap space well save by not taking anyone will get us a few mid level picks when we take on a bad contract. Taking on a bad contract is worth more than player X from CBJ.
