Sather couldn't adapt to the Cap era. That is my biggest concern with this deal. Goodrow is a good addition as a player, but negotiations are a give and take. If the team gets AAV, the player gets Term. If the player gets AAV the team gets a better term. In this case the player got a higher than expected AAV, much longer term than his player type warrants, and a NTC on top of it. Goodrow's agent won all 3. This isn't Panarin on the open market. - Maskdman3
Man, I don't know what to think here.
I thought it wasn't that bad, but didn't realize he wasn't even making $1M a year before. Could have done better there. The mNTC doesn't bother me in the slightest. Still 16 teams to deal with. |

Someone mentioned it earlier, this contract is not going to sink the Rangers. Everyone what's to sign players for cheaper but in the end this is not an untraceable contract. His skill set will be sought after by any contenting team moving forward if things go sour. I will root like hell that he outplays the contract. |

Rangers realize they needed to seriously beef up. Not fighters either. Bigger players, hard to play against players.
Rangers are the only team that could look like the Harlem Globetrotters one period, then the Washington Generals the next
They need to make the team tougher to play against. It’s clear to me that’s the direction they’re heading rn. |

Ek has the Kings "moving" Brendan Lemieux already, but doesn't know to whom?
His other update has the Penguins interested in a Fleury return in net if he becomes the goalie that Vegas of their two would deal, after they were rumored to have initially wanted a week or so ago Frederick Andersson. |

I felt that he deserved 2.85-3m per. So if they overpaid by 600k so be it. If we end up in a situation where 600k is whats sinking us we got a much much larger problem going on.
This guy will log tons of minutes all over the ice. |

Not a fan of Gourde, he is a good player but I don't think he fits our mandate. He is even smaller than Blackwell and now he has a shoulder problem. PASS |

People forget that Clutterbuck and Czikas both make/made about 3.5 for NYI. I can say I hate the AAV, but it's not like other teams haven't paid for toughness before.

Drury better not waste any more time considering to acquire Eichel's damaged goods for an excessive package price. Their GM Adams' fear of releasing any medical info. to interested teams on Eichel's neck injury status; along with Eichel's demand for a specific surgery that would sideline him for at least 6 months; are reasons besides GM Adams high trade demands & Eichel's $10M AAV cap hit & NMC starting in '22/'23; why teams like Calgary, L.A.K., & Columbus already dropped out of the sweepstakes. It's also believed per reports that Adams preferred trading Eichel out West.
But for Drury, the delay is resulting in him put on hold the specific rumored teams interested in acquiring some of his key players, so that he can "make the Rangers tougher to play against," as he stated he would do early during the postseason while watching from the outside. That's unless he is already involved in any unreported yet pre Entry Draft serious trade discussions with GM's ahead of its 1st Round starting tomorrow, succeeded by the free agency signing period beginning 5 days later. |

The ones upset want only the toughness Goodrow brings here without also his other benefits, to be replaced instead at $1.5M/year with a return of a John Scott, Tanner Glass, or the like; if not also Brendan Lemieux, who Ek. now has the Kings "moving" for the unknown.

Their GM and former player for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Blackhawks Kevyn William Adams should cease and desist all delays henceforth in making available the records of a medical nature pertaining to his star center forward Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres hockey organization located in Buffalo, NY and his structurally questionable herniated disc located in his spinal column so that inquisitive National Hockey League organizations may provide said records of a medical nature pertaining to his star center forward Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres hockey organization located in Buffalo, NY and his structurally questionable herniated disc located in his spinal column to their medical doctor staff for review and evaluation of all risk of further injury and therefore severe squandering of revenue generated from hockey operations and advertising. |

I would consider that, but not the players that those here think they can acquire for the maximum of a $1.5M in AAV who hate Goodrow's deal.
Friedman stated the other day that, "Goodrow's rumored contract 6 years at a $3.6 AAV is a "great deal" for Goodrow. But players who play like that are going to "GET BIG DEALS;" along with one of higher level in Zach Hyman to likely receive Jack Anderson's 7 years at $5.5M." He added that "Hyman turned down Toronto's 8 year offer, though not as high as Anderson's AAV. But Toronto was still hoping to bring him back." |

But as was the case with Gauthier, though recently re-signed in part due to the Exp. draft ramifications; due to Quinn's lack of playing time and games allowed to be played in, as per why Lemieux forced Gorton to trade him. That helped in part result in the extra physical advantages others took against them thereafter which were hated by Dolan during those 3 important games down the stretch vs. the Isles, (with the Trouba and Lindgren hits sustained resulting in season ending injuries), along with the Tom Wilson incident. |
