Wonder if it is Risto, if Reinhart or Olofsson might be part of a package deal that included Copp going the other way?

Dillon would give is some much needed toughness, and UFA Savrd wouldn't cost us any players, and would be a plus.

Wonder who's going to stick their neck out (pardon the pun) for Eichel?

Some GM is either going to be a genius or a dunce.

I’m with you on Risto at a good price.

Jets would have to go 7 x $8-$9 I think for Hamilton to consider Winnipeg

Not impossible but maybe not worth it either (see San Jose with 3 nasty contracts on D)

Would rather land Risto for a 3rd and a decent prospect and the 3rd becomes a 2nd if he signs

I cannot stress to you enough how much worse Ristolainen is than pretty much every conceivable option we have out there.

Bitetto looks like Lidstrom by comparison.

Some name I like tonight:

RW Boucher
C L’Heureaux
LHD Lambos
C Bolduc
C Stankhoven

Out of left field pick: G Sebastian Cossa

We don’t have much in the goalie pipeline and 3 years left of Hellybuck

- jjonah

Goalies in Jets pipeline:
Mikhail Berdin
Arvid Holm
Jared Moe (as of yet still an unsigned draft pick)
Logan Neaton (same as above)

I think they're fine in that department.

They, in fact, support it overwhelmingly

A guy with a 43.7 Corsi and overall poor possession numbers is not something that I would be defending.

We aren’t in a great position for a Dman tonight.

Hope somebody texts Chevy that the draft is tonight

- jjonah

He's already taken the last 2 days off. He's probably upset that he's not at the lake today.

Enstrom the best shutdown defenceman is just a bit of a stretch, but I know how much you love him.

Suzuki got his big chance in Montreal because they had no centers with offensive talent. Vesalainen hasn't had his big break yet, because there were 4 or more better wingers ahead if him.

This is what you were saying about Pionk a couple of years ago.

I know nothing of the bottom 2, Holm has looked good and is progressing nicely but unsure of his ceiling. I'm not convinced Berdin can be a number 1 in NHL

That’s not a great goalie pipeline.

I’m not saying has to be addressed this draft but if Cossa slid down I wouldn’t throw the remote control.

Another day of hoping Jets getting aggressive and probably another day of frustration.

And Helly sucked badly in his rookie year, ya never know with goalies.

I never thought Helly was going to amount to much, he sucked so bad his first full year and his 20 games the season prior was meh, who knows with goalies really.

And a couple of years ago, I was right.

Pionk is our chaotic little unicorn. I love the man, but he’s a damn miracle turnaround rarely seen in this sport.

It really isn’t. He was quite literally the most effective defensive player in the world that year.

*edit* quoting appears to have died

He certainly did.......if he stopped the first shot, there was hope if not....

But, he proved himself no doubt

They bet on their young talent then, and wisely so. I’m fairly certain everyone and their dog knew another step forward for the younglings was coming
- Rexypoo

Believing in your youngsters and calling yourself a cup contender are two different things. Based on that low bar Ottawa's cup window is wide open now.

To be fair to Hellebuyck, and all goalies really, they’re usually pretty bad at first.
It’s a different position. If Morgan Frost sucks at first, you can get around it and keep working on him. If Carter Harter sucks, your team sucks.

Goalies coming into the NHL are throw and hope 95% of the time. Aim and fire is reserved for the Lundqvists and Millers.

Fletcher just made one of the decades worst trades, i can not believ he gave up a 13th overall pick and another 2nd rounder ( i do not care about Haag ) for risto. beyond bad GM'ing by Fletcher.

That's something we can agree on. Whatever you think of Risto and Ellis Philly had no problem going out and remaking their defense. While the Jets seem to be "Eh we're good enough"
