a) scouting reports say he has a big shot, skates well, strong physical play, good offensive instincts. *and Jets could use a bit of dirty*
b) he wouldn't have to be the 'go-to' 24 minute/night guy in Winnipeg, no leadership expectation needed and would be a welcome change of scenery that often brings out some positives
c) no he won't, we have Forbort, Beaulieu and Maurice for that. He might be the tallest but wont be the lighting rod. I agree that the current coaching crew has had their chance and has not met reasonable expectations in the past three seasons.

- 2.0

A) scouting reports said Logan Stanley was better than Sam Girard at 18, Sean Day was a sure fire elite talent, and Brian Strait was worth horning over for 3 years.
If all of those things are true, why do Buffalo’s players produce better away from Risto? Where are the goals?
B) What you’re describing worked well for Pionk. And only Pionk. Don’t get tricked into another Chairot. Most NHL players aren’t bad for literally their entire careers without fail, only to suddenly rebound past peak age with hard miles on them.
C) The expectations around Risto will absolutely see him eaten alive by the fan base by the end of season 1. Most fans knew Forbort and Beaulieu would be kinda bad. So when they were, Maurice got the blame. Risto has a reputation

Next years draft is supposed to be pretty good, AriZona now has 5 picks in the 2nd round. AriZona will only have 5 players under contract after this year. If I’m the GM there, I’m loving this!!!! Blank canvass to do whatever I want

Too bad Chevy isn't this smart!

Based on Arizona's moves, the Jets can look forward to finishing ahead of 1 team in their division at least.

Arizona wins. There is a ton of value in that 1st round pick let alone the other picks. I do really like Garland who might be a good fit but OEL is overrated and overpaid , especially with his long-term contract.

I would say Matthews is almost 100% lock to go to Arizona in 2 more seasons. So yes, things should be looking pretty good when he arrives.

- jetsnation

If LA doesn’t get Eichel they will also be in on Mathews.
I bet AriZona takes a goalie now at 9 tonight. Fits the 3 year rebuild timeline for Mathews

Arizona has 1,2,2,2 this year and 1,2,2,2,2,2 next year

Considering what they had/have and a 1st taken away I would say they did quite well

Arizona should be announcing C Shane Wright next year at this time.

Chevy has the champagne on ice for when he announces we have signed Mark Stall and Tobias Reider

I have this a landslide win for AriZona!!
OEL hasn’t been good in four years and has 6 years left!! Even with AriZona eating 1.2 million that’s still a 7 million cap hit for 6 years. All the buns AriZona took onky have one more left, and they got a 1rst, 2nd and 7th round picks
This is a huge win for Zona

Agreed! Very much so!

And I’m sure they will be adding to those picks at the deadline next year, someone will take Kessell
For instance for a playoff run

Is there a full moon out tonight. Seriously ....$9.5 MM AAV for 8 years for Jones. WTF ! Some GM's have lost teir minds. Suddenly Heiskanen looks like a steal at $8.45 MM AAV. Hawks should be rebuilding, not blowing their wad on Jones.

Chicago gets rid of Keith’s deal and then says how can we get an even worse deal on the books

Thinking CLB is getting Chicago’s first round pick but all details aren’t out

Likely a first and a third . Columbus is now in full rebuild mode. Can't imagine Laine sticking around long for that.

Been rumored before - Laine to LA - doubt that will happen - but everyone is wheeling and dealing - well, almost everyone.

Columbus should be trading into 2022 draft at this point! 😂

Seth Jones 8 years $9.5 per……. Just sounds nuts!

I'd be accumulating 2023 first-round picks from lesser teams in hopes of somehow landing Connor Bedard

Chicago get Jones , 32nd overall tonight and a 6th rd in 2022

Columbus get Boqvist, 12th overall tonight, 2nd rd tonight and Chicago’s 1st rd next year

I would love to have had Bean for a 2nd. So much upside there. Chevy ????

I’d would have done a 4th or 3rd maybe for Bean
6th year has only played 44 games and the GM that drafted him decided not to draft him this week.

Could be a decent deal for CLB

After today, hope that David Savard and PLD are buds, he likes Wpg.

Anything else left out there - I guess Dillon and Zadorov. Anaheim got anything we could use?

Still think the Jets take a forward at #18

Jets have no choice now, but to go hard for Dougie Hamilton.
