of all the NFL QBs in history who couldn't throw the ball more than 15 yards downfield he definitely ranks among the very best - DoubleDown
Fun fact, his last year starting in KC he was the top rated deep ball thrower in the league, by a country mile...but once you're nicknamed captain checkdown that reputation sticks with you, even if it isn't accurate |

Last years pieces were easier to find. This years pieces don't grow on trees so I won't blame MB if he doesn't fill them unless he reaches and over plays his hand to fill them with unqualified people - Takemedrunkimhome
he needs an elite dman. he is unlikely to get one. the question is, does he go overpay for mid-tier dmen like Risto or Savard? or hang on to the cap space unless something comes along later in the summer or during the season.
because really, i'm not sure David Savard moves the needle all that much.

not so convinced either, and it kinda reeks of a looming overpayment.

I've said my piece on those guys and I'd rather MB do nothing than do a half measure |

yeah but a deep ball is anything over 20 yards in the air. come on. he was no gunslinger. but he was better than he ever got credit for, no question. |

yeah i would tend to agree. id rather see him take a swing and try to unearth a player who is devalued on his own team.

Alzner 2.0 - Mashadar
im not even worried about an Alzner. i'm more worried about giving a $30 million contract to Ben Chiarot 2.0.

Yes, 20 yards downfield is a proper measure of a deep ball, especially when your comment was he doesn't throw beyond 15 yards but ultimately he won games which is what matters. People would jerk off Phillip Rivers for years while ignoring the fact he never won anything or even came close. Not calling him a gunslinger but typically gunslingers hurt you just as much as they help you...see Favre for example |

a vet stay at home d with Romanov would make sense. You then give him more minutes next season. |

Seeing how Chiarot plays prolly extension of 4x4 makes sense

I know you really, really like Savard, but he was making 4M in TB, how much are you willing to pay him to be a 3rd pairing guy on the habs?

If it doesn't need Dach or the cat the price may be in a range the Habs could enter but I'd imagine a big part of it is Seth will sign in Chicago and likely not MTL or even elsewhere possibly - Takemedrunkimhome
they are not trading him East, unless that team overpay |

I know but the tweet talks about getting Seth for "another mix of Chicago’s young players, prospects and high draft picks", which is kinda the opposite of a rebuild.

Top pairing d men who can play another 8 to 10 years tend to be useful in a rebuild |

Might be pessimistic but I imagine they trade him at the deadline when it's clear they'll miss the playoffs and get a solid return for him |

he would be a top 4 d here.
They will need to play all 6 d, we saw that in the finals
look, Seth Jones is not happening, which is why I'm not talking about him. I was talking about Ellis before he got traded to the Flyers, but it is what it is. |

I think it's also a situation where Jones has said he'd extend in one location but maybe not the others |
