If you are absorbing Eichel's salary, I guess this is a way to do it. When I said we were going to make trades out of necessity, I don't think I imagined a trade like this.

Even if this is salary related its a bad deal. No way that was the best offer on the table. A borderline AHL player and a 2nd for a guy who is solid in all 3 zones and scored close to a point per game last season

This is what the Rangers were (and are) going to have to do. Exchange top-six talent for bottom-six grind. (Or top-six grind). This has been obvious since the bubble debacle.
