Funny. That makes me think about how Tampa came up short and then went out and added guys like Maroon, Goodrow and Coleman. But, when we get to that point we are wasting assets.

I get some of it and sometimes I agree. But we won't know anything about how this roster will shake out until we see them playing. I am trying like hell not to get too pissed at the moves. |

Easy Tony. We're just having some heated banter right now. - JRR1285
You're right. I need to calm down.
I just so frustrated by all the armchair experts who read 3rd hand reports and think they know more than the guys who actually get paid a lot of money to be experts.
Just say "Go Rangers" and then shut up. |

Pssst. Psssssst.
You don't know anything. Just like the rest of us. - Tonybere
Nash deal off the bat everyone said was a home run, and it was
McD/Miller deal most were underwhelmed with, and it sucked
Fox trade everyone loved, that one turned out great
Etc etc etc
You can usually tell who won the trade right from the beginning, we got smoked. And I want to preface that with Blais is the exact type of player I’ll love. Guys a motor that loves to hit, but you don’t exchange that and a 2nd round pick for an almost PPG winger that plays a great 200 ft game. |

I don't mind us bantering about it. It helps us work through it. Some of us have a lot of attachment to some of these players. We've all seen some of our favorites leave and it can suck. When I was in 2nd grade and they traded Gartner I almost became a Leaf's fan. They won the cup that year. |

You haven't once mentioned the fact that Buch is not currently under contract and is due a significant raise. That is always a huge factor in what the return will be in a trade.
We got a player that helps fill our biggest need and a draft pick for a guy that would have cost us someone else to re-sign.
I choose to focus on that. And I loved what Buch has grown into. |

I get what you're saying but I don't think any of us can find a franchise that has ZERO bad deals.
I didn't hate the McDonagh trade at the time. It has not aged that well but it's still not the worst thing ever. He's playing behind arguably the best d-man in the league and it keeps him partially sheltered and less battered. If he was still here he would be wrecked by injury at this point. |

I am most interested in his contract numbers. It is very possible the Blues only get him for a year and then he is a UFA. |

Shattenkirk won a cup too behind that D and was a dumpster fire here being the top guy |

Then sign him to his 1 year RFA deal and trade him as a rental at the deadline for a 1st+ |

Blais is a 4th liner that has a career 17 goals - nyrangers9479
It doesn't matter. Be honest with yourself. Look at how the playoffs go. Do you really think the Rangers can compete with other teams the way they were constructed? We've all been saying how they need to add grit and "jam". Can't have a lineup of all flashy players.
I honestly think they will be better. Players that stick up for each other, are harder to play against and get dirty goals. We didn't have that before, but we're getting there. Much more balanced team I think. I like it. |

Yep. Some guys can't be the top line/pair player you hope for.
I think Trouba would be just fine as #1 but Fox unexpectedly eclipsed him. Trouba behind Fox is a hell of a 1-2 punch, albeit an expensive one.
I will defend Trouba until he is no longer here. |

I said from day 1 the Shattenkirk signing was a disaster, and it was. He’s a 3rd pair guy that can’t play defense but can run your PP. We paid him to be our top pair guy and that’s just not who he is. |

They look like they might be a matchup nightmare. You have to stop high skills guys and in your face grinders that can contribute. |

I’m not disagreeing we needed to get players like this. What I’m disagreeing about is we used our best trade chip to do it. There’s plenty of other guys we could’ve traded Sammy Blais for. I’ve been saying for years we need to be tougher to play against, I knew and WANTED guys like Blais brought in. I just think Drury panicked trying to plug that hole when if he waited there would’ve been better/cheaper options. Or maybe we still would’ve ended up with Blais but it wouldn’t have cost us Buch. |

Problem is, Bunch is a FA. He loses value because of that. I think a pick and roster player is close to fair value. Not a complete lose as you claim.

You're assuming this was on the table. Maybe it was and buch said, I'll go to arbitration and at that point the Rangers are stuck with an amount they don't want or walking away and losing him for nothing. Maybe they get lucky but apparently Drury was not willing to gamble on it and took what he did. |
