Did you get rewarded right after being charged for a DUI and giving a poopty apology? Did your insurance company say "Hey, he's only 16, let's actually lower his rates for him and that way he'll mature". Or did you need to prove that you can change? - matt1337
I don’t like the analogy because a DUI is a victimless crime in Pete’s case.
Typically after a DUI life goes on unaltered. No reward, but no long term repercussion. |

Usually insurance rates go up, might have a breathalyzer installed in your car in order to be able to start it. A buddy of mine got a DUI and that's what he had to do for a year to prove he can drive normally again without drinking. |

Which goes to show you there should be consequences for your actions, not being drafted in the first round to what people say is a great franchise. |

Right and fair enough. This kid slipped in the draft. That’s his repercussion. And he’ll be on a short leash.
I mean I’m not even saying it was a good pick. And I mentioned, anyone who does this is a wiener and I’m not sure that can be expunged from someone’s character.
But the outrage I’m seeing just doesn’t compute. Like people seem way more upset about this than the Blackhawks sexual abuse scandal. |

It’s a bizarre pick, I won’t argue that. And this kid sounds like a total wiener.
But the media and fan reaction to this has been an utter embarrassment, just everyone trying to out-rage each other on Twitter and acting like the Habs just drafted John Wayne Gacy. That sanctimony makes me want to puke.
And yes I have a daughter and yes I would want to kill the guy but I’m also mentally stable enough to understand that the guy’s life wouldn’t be ruined for eternity because of this. - DoubleDown

I imagine Montréal has brought so much shame to the process that the rest of the draft, and all subsequent drafts, have been cancelled. |

It probably doesn't help that it's Montreal, especially when Bergevin got rid of Subban for being a distraction. Falling in the draft this year isn't as big of a deal as in other years. Scouts don't have a lot of information on these kids, so something damning like this, should've made him fall to the lower rounds if anything.
Also, if the leafs would've made this pick I wouldn't be defending it. I would criticize Dubas and not justify that he should've been top 10 but fell to 31. |

After reading the posts and comments, initially I thought it was not a good pick but looking at his hockey plays make me think that if it works out and his size he might be the big right hand blue liner we have been looking for. The thing I am hoping for is he really changed and we don’t bring him to replace Weber as early as next season |

really don't think so. My guess is it will take a few years. If everything works out |

With this draft pick. It officially show that the rumors of Hoffman and DeAngelo interest might be true lol.

I love how people pretend that 95% of players that age aren't degenerate... going through frat boy hockey culture which is getting worse thanks to the media's massive "okay" on fornication.
Karens only permit so much degeneration and then they draw a line in a sand... no more degeneration beyond this point! |

kid made a huge mistake..lets see if he can come back from this...is it worse than what happened in Chicago and the claims of abuse there...I don't think so...and where is the outrage over that?!..is it because its men being abused and we don't want to discuss that? |

The awkwardness of the Hawks pick immediately following with like 7 women at the podium. Jesus.
Can’t help but think the Habs couldn’t have moved back and still made this pick.
I really don’t buy the statement either. You took the kid for his skill. You don’t give a poop about him otherwise because you just threw a colossal poop storm his way by going against his wishes and drafting him to the biggest hockey market in the league with a 1st round pick. - hereticpride
I’m all for 2nd chances but agree with getting this pick much later in the draft. |

The only outrage I see is Bergevin being a liar with the Chicago stuff. |
