Solid summer for the Hawks. Keith is completely washed up and Hawks rid themselves of his contract. In his day he was an amazing defender but the rare Norris Trophy winner who could not quarterback a powerplay. Boqvist is a band-aid who is weak in his own zone and coaches will hate.
A first round pick has a 50% chance of playing 300 NHL games and a 2nd rounder has a 25% chance of playing 300 games. Pretty sure Jones will play 225 games of top line D for the Hawks making this trade statistically worth it.
Keep in mind what happens at the trade deadline. Toronto have up a first round pick for a few games on Foligno.
Can't worry about the AAV or the term because the Cap will soon be rising fast with alternatice media money and Jones has a game like Lidstrom (great skater and positioning) which will stay elite into his 30s. - stevefrmglencoe
Jones is a little above average player… 9.5 is pathetic |

I predict he will replace "Robert Hull" in Chicago some day but it won't last. |

Yes, that ‘Q’ guy has lost touch, he’s just a bumbling old man who is past his prime. Plus, he doesn’t like young players and only plays his favorites. I’m sure glad the Hawks have a proven winner in Colliton! (Red font) - scottak
It was time for Q to go |

Its time for a new set eyes on the Chicago Blackhawks imo. Yes bowman was part of three Stanley cups and over decade of success I all give him that am sure got a lot of help from his father why wouldn't you great hockey guy and mind. But since the last cup win things have just been on downward spiral bad contracts questionable trades that netting nothing in return for the most part.
And now making a Hugh mistake in trading for Jones but paying him like he is best defense man the league which he is not. Promoting coliton when its obvious he is not ready to be an NHL coach.
My opinion its time for a change but that is decision the wirtz's have evaluate and make. No matter what I will always be a die hard Chicago Blackhawk fan. |

Erik Karlsson $11.5 AAV. Move on. It’s done. Not directed at you solely of course but for (frank)s sake find something else besides the beaten horse mantra everyone else has had the same exact comment for 14 pages. How about the draft picks today? How about other trades and moves that could be made to move us closer to contending? This crybaby female dogfit gets us nowhere. Sack up ladies it ain’t easy building a contender with a salary cap and front office talking heads spittin’ ridic thoughts and strategies 24/7. |

You really have no clue about any of these things but go ahead and whine if it makes you feel better. 90% of the people here always expect a deal on "our terms" or else it's a bad deal. It just doesn't work that way. I think the $9.5 is quite fair considering they have the player we don't. We still have two guys making more than that on about an 8 year old contract when it was signed. Sure wish I could buy a house at 8 years ago prices. Even 8 months ago prices |

Aside from Dach, none of the other draft picks will sniff the NHL. I think every one of their choices besides Allen and Dach were overagers.
Instead of asking for content, provide talking points of your own. Suggest some moves to make this team a contender. (good luck there)
People suggesting Bowman be launched and overpaying for Jones kinda affects the moves.
Besides, being the hall monitor is mohel's job |

I've always thought that the Hawks didn't need a rebuild. We've had pieces all along to be a contender. There have just been stupid moves by Bowman that obviously did not pan out. When you have a healthy Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, and Crawford, you really should not be thinking about rebuilding. You have a core and build out from there. Rebuilding means getting rid of your core and replacing it. So, unless you're using the term rebuild loosely, I'd say okay, maybe. However, if you're using the strict definition of rebuild, I'd say it's a terrible idea.
edit: I realize my comment about all the healthy former players might be a tad confusing. I've had this opposing view of rebuild up until last season. But with Crawford and Seabrook retired, and Keith leaving, I still kinda opposed rebuild, because I just don't want to see Kane or Toews in another sweater., but I could see it happening from Bowman. The dude is insane, I won't forgive him after Panarin. Is it possible to rebuild with Kane & Toews on the roster? Maybe, yeah, but not as effectively, and I don't consider it a true rebuild. |
