um no sorry have disagree goaltending suspect defense system and play is still a major issue a lack of phyiscallity up and down the lineup center position and face offs still an issue lack of top six talent and a sustainable forecheck in the offensive zone. Coaching another big problem. Etc.. - Scott1977
And I agree with all of that...but I'm also looking at the landscape of the WC...its not that strong and most teams...who will be playing for the playoffs all have issues. The Hawks are not far behind those teams. I could see them being a wildcard team. Now are they more than that currently...no....and this idea the rebuild is done...they are till one of the...if not the youngest team in the league. |

My dream has come true:
my profile;
Kirby’s l’il brother is a big left winger who puts hit head down and drives to the net. At this juncture isn’t finished developing his acceleration and top gear, but he gets there, and when he does, he hits and finishes his checks. He is a dominant board player who is literally able to knock defenseman down in puck battles. His puck control is also very good, and is very difficult to move off the puck. A smart offensive zone player who never throws away possessions. Effective offensively, but still in the developmental stage. He will cut sharply en route to the front and find a small space where pucks opportunistically find him. Finds pucks sneaking out of traffic. From the cycle down low, he will steam out to the post. Will shoot towards the goalie’s far side pad to create rebounds to the low slot. He is hard on the back check. Hit opponents with frequency. He will drop the gloves. Posssesses strong puck control. Still a work in progresses there is effective offensive ability but it needs to improve. - wiz1901
Wiz, I mean that scouting report sounds like Ovechkin. What is the difference between Colton and a first round pick?

Seriously? Most post preceding this one were positive. You just wanted to get out in front by complaining about people complaining.
Stan is on borrowed time, the team has been a pretty consistent bottom feeder for a few years now. Progress this year is mandatory. |

With what are they going to make moves? Who are they trading? Do you really want Bowman making those decisions? Hagel, Kampf, Suter, Nylander, Gaudette and Z all need contracts.
Not a one of those guys is worth much. Before you get all happy about only 3 players under contract in 2 seasons, realize they are at 50M for 8 players already for next season. - Elbows15
Where are you getting your information?
They have projected 6 million in cap space with 22 players on the roster for next season. |

I think that is being missed here. They have two old players and a guy in his prime. When those two old guys are done their highest paid player will be $9.5, one at $9.5. Not exactly "cap hell." |

When Toews and Kane are done their highest paid player will be $9.5. Maybe also Dinky at $9.5. Two at $9.5 are better than we've been the last 8 years? Not exactly cap hell. |

More moves are exactly what people should be concerned about. Bowman's about to get pantsed again.
6M is going to go quick once the RFAs are signed and moved onto the roster and the AHL placeholders dropped.

Aside from the fact Toews and Kane were far better than Dinky and Stiff Jones? And what about other players that will need to be signed? |

They're not trying to be Ottawa or Phoenix. If you're a good team you will always be fighting the cap. "Those other players will have to be good to get paid." |

No one said this move puts them in cup contention. There is still a lot of work to be done and a lot development to be had. People who make the point this assures them being bottom feeders for the next decade do NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
You still have huge potential with the top 6...you have solid young developing middle-bottom six forwards with Hagel, Kurashev, and Suter....The D is still a work in progress but a lot of young players coming up through the system. As I've said before...we shall see. |
