Very ironic, the only hills I've ever seen you want to die on are very pro Dubas. - joel878
I don’t like everything Dubas does but I don’t see the sense in harping on it every god damn day.
I don’t like Marner’s contract but who wants to hear me harp incessantly about it? Would that be hockey talk? I don’t think so. |

The piano is very old and actually has ivory keys. I can’t have had chocolate in my hands for three weeks before I play. |

I think Shanny already used up his 1 get out of jail Free card. Babcock was scapegoated and thrown under the bus. Shanny and Dubie's fates are tied together. - gergeswillems
I think Shanny tosses Dubas overboard to save himself. |

The Kadri trade was garbage from the get go, and many people here called it that way. - fifty__missions
I don't think it was garbage and I have always defended the move.
Some of the reasoning behind my defence (am I really going to do this again? yeah, (frank) it):
- Limited cap space to work with to fill a desperate need at RHD
- Managed to bring back a utility C/LW who can play up and down the lineup
- Kadri had been suspended 2x in the playoffs which deeply gutted the Leafs
- Kadri, as a 3C, performed well below his clip at 2C
Kadri's trade value at the time wasn't exactly at an all-time high and his cap hit at 3C was unsustainable (blame the Core 4?).
Also, Kadri's last two seasons seem to have actually acquitted Dubas somewhat as his production has been down and a subsequent playoff suspension occurred.
He did have a great playoff run his first season with Colorado but I think he was somewhat overrated by this fanbase because he brought some sandpaper to a lineup that had very little grit to speak of.
Not saying Dubas did amazeballs in this trade but the narrative that he got fleeced or that it was awful I disagree with. YMMV. 🤷 |

Shanahan's biggest mistake. The only question is whether MLSE cleans Shanny out too when Dubas is canned. - fifty__missions
I could definitely see this happening. There are rumblings I've heard from the MLSE upper echelon that there is very little rope left for failure. (J5) |

I liked that trade when it happened, still do. I think Kadri’s game is about to hit a wall. |

I like his emphasis on skill as it’s harder to get high end skill than it is to get a 3rd line grinder type. I just don’t understand the need to have 3 forwards averaging 11.2M each. So, so stupid. Even if the cap was rising normally, that is still difficult to manage, but with the flat cap he still refuses to adapt. Posters like Santo clearly don’t see why this is a problem, as I said earlier, Dubas himself has said this hasn’t been done before. I don’t know why he’s so insistent on doing this.
He seems like a player agent disguised as a GM. Caring more about the player’s feelings than the betterment of the team.
I like his philosophy, just hate the execution. Honestly, if the Leafs don’t make the Conference Finals next season, I’ll be done with him. - Steven_Seagull
I think he’s dont a great job getting talent, the team has failed him not the other way around.
I also hate the “stubborn” excuse. Babcock wasn’t stubborn either, he had a way of doing things and stuck to it.
That’s what you pay a coach or GM to do, stick to their plan and make the tough decisions. If we wanted a GM that was easily influenced by fans we would be (frank)ed. |

I think when one gets tossed so does the other.
But I shudder to think about who they might hire as replacements. |

This is not about where kadri's game is at now. It's about the return Dubas got at the time. Barrie was the wrong player, a player the coach wanted no part of, on the wrong (expiring) contract. Terrible (frank)ing deal. |

You won't be done with them. You will be cheering for a new regime. Look at their division. They are not making it past the first round and may not even make the playoffs. Shanahan, Dubas, Keefe will all be gone. |

Are you still a Boy Wonder fan? (serious question SS)
I was indifferent mostly but definitely not a fan of his soft/skill analytic BS.
I will absolutely have fu3king immense hate for him come September if he hasn't fixed this team. Not band-aid $1m contract fixes but a real attempt at some type of real trade. Just an attempt even if it failed.
Trading Rielly or Marner or pulling some magic out of his a$$ is all he can do to save face for me. I'm really starting to hate him and the team he's put together.
Never been this way before either, even with sh1t Leafs teams and GMs. For me, those other teams had nothing to work with, Dubas has had everything... AM/MM/JT/WN/MR/1st Rounders/great UFAs have been available during his tenure/and even the magnificient JHoll... to make the team better and still hasn't.
I don't think he's good at the job. He is terrible at unwinding a mistake...to stubborn or arrogant perhaps?!? - underhill14
Clearly Marner isn’t going to go and I’d put the odds at Rielly being moved at less than 50/50. My guess is that Dubas sees a regular season team that won big and is trying to sort out how to adjust it so it works in the playoffs. I don’t think he looks at it from the opposite perspective and sees a failed team.
I’ll withhold my judgement till I see what additions he makes and will try to get a sense of that will work in the playoffs. I should probably factor in half of them being hurt in game one.

Oh Philly fans:
We kinda always had a love/hate relationship, but they are really passionate. It was a pleasure to play in front of them. It was fun sometimes to hear to shoot the puck about 17 times a game. - Jakub Voracek
