We would never hear the end of it.

Is it weird to hope Woll washes out to spite a fellow poster?

Hey, I'm not advocating for him to extend Rielly, what I'm saying is don't wait until next year to find out.

GET ASSETS BACK FOR A CHANGE DUMBAS. (I was yelling at Dubas not you)

If he agrees to a team friendly number, do it and no NMC or NTC. Then trade his ass for even more this summer and sign Dougie.

If he doesn't agree, trade him now for a little less but better than nothing.

- underhill14

100% agreed.

Rielly for prospects and picks pretty please.

Nice alliteration!

Not much in the cupboard to offer in a trade.
It will be an fa signing.

- Fakepartofme

Pretty (frank)ing sad state of affairs that you are too strapped to acquire a goaltender.

btw, why can't this team EVER develop a goaltender of its own??

Who cares if the Oilers save 500k cap space? They aren't in our division (unless more pandemic madness) and there's no way Hyman gets even close to that amount in his next contract which makes the extra year extra poisonous.

I'll take a 7th for the trouble, thanks!

- mjones242

that 500K will go a long way in cap management, but that's me.
and about 3.5M over the life of the contract in extra cap.

Too strapped to trade for a back up to boot.

Cause they arent good at developing players.

The state the leafs are currently in is acceptable if you've accomplished something.
The leafs have been failures and havent accomplished anything. Outside of being laughed at.
For good reason

Once in a while you have to draft a tender in the 1st round. I know people hate doing it but there are some beauties including the one we've got now.

I was really (irrationally) hoping the Leafs would trade up to get Askarov last year.

Blackhawks won their Cups with Kane-Toews at 6M. Because they could fill out the rest of their roster properly. As soon as they made 10M each, their team went to poop.

And Dubas thinks he can do this with FOUR forwards at 40M (half the cap)?

It's (frank)ing laughable

Even Dubas acknowledges that the way the Leafs are built has never been done before.

Holland needs every dollar he get can his hands on to extend Darnell Nurse. If he wants this $360 he can (frank)ing pay for it. Everybody complains about Dubas whimping out. A 6th or 7th is a joke. Put the screws to him and let him pay the extra cap b

Why would the Leafs help the Oilers out? 7th pick isnt really worth it
- Archaic

Haha what? I hear dubs wants a second or third when we can take his player for free in a few days. More like the Oil don’t wanna help the Laffs by paying for a player they will get no matter what.

Maybe sooner. At least not a puny soft skill guy that gets traded for a seventh three years from now. Has some skill, but not afraid to get involved. Leafs need more of these.

That’s why there’s an negotiation. Oilers get a lower cap hit, Leafs get compensated. It’s about finding a middle ground.

I’d take this year’s 4th.

Fine, then pay $5.5M. Fine with us for 7 years for someone who’s got 3 good years left. Holland will be gone and you’ll be left reading Zach’s kids’ books, slowly.

I agree, especially this year. I would think that because many have not played much over the last 12 months or more, this is a year where more undrafted gems show up than ever. (frank) the oilers, we owe them no favours.

You're signing him to an awful contract, the least your dumbass GM could have done was ensure he got him at the lower cap number.

But we're talking about the guy who takes on Duncan Keith's full contract and signs 39 year old Mike Smith for two years, so I'm positive he doesn't have the slightest clue when it comes to cap space.

No, getting zero assets because you think 400k is worth more than a 6th or 7th is (frank)ing absurd.

Getting a pick back would not be a favour.

That 8th year is the ultimate albatross.

he should ask for that. They get a big chunk of cap space. You don't seem to understand math

There's two parts to this trade. A 6th or 7th is an asset agreed. (frank)ing another team for cap space can also be considered an asset. Hard to say which is worth more. Worth negotiating at the very least.

400k is not a "big chunk of cap space".

You're also not factoring in the 8th year at 5M+ which would be insane for a player who is probably broken by the 4th year.
