There wasn't much to see in Canada last year. Maybe Jim was ahead of the curve knowing the Euros had a better developing year last year - VANTEL
OHL season was cancelled with covid, not surprising we are seeing a ton of euros. |

Could be a really good pick (that smurf)
3rd overall in the OHL priority import draft. Could be a good sleeper pick. - Codes1087
That was a pick I didn't mind actually. He has the makings of a player who is going to find a way to grind out an NHL Career.
Just picked up Garland who is the same size. |

Didn't you say earlier that Benning had said they have been s outing these kids for years?
I think other teams scout the Canadian leagues and in typical canuck fashion, they scout Europe and other places, because you know, all the great players and Cups the team has/had.
Not trying to be negative, but this is getting more and more ridiculous, every year.
So far this has been a good off-season, it will be a great season if they get rid of Schmidt, another one of those cap dumps, that should have been in the Arizona package. |

Overall, I would say the Canucks didn't do too bad. Other than maybe the run on Swedes but it's not really that bad of an idea Lucas Forsell was good value in the 7th.
No centers were picked though. If that matters though since Van's centers are all 26 and under.
I think the only three players I would have liked more than the Van picks in the last 3 rounds would be Ryan Mast, Ryan McCleary and Matvei Petrov.
All my real long shots weren't taken. |

You should have sent Jim your list. He only had the first 9 |

He might be a good pick, that isn't my point, the Canucks either think the success of past teams and the Euros and Americans, is a phenomenal success, or they have s hit scouts in Canada.

We have one of the younger teams in the league, id like to have some prospect depth but this is a roster that can compete imo. JB defs trying to keep his job, but also we have our 4th consecutive calder candidate coming up here, the core is pretty dam solid. |

Green has a new Edler so OJ won't get to play. Even though OJ is probably better than OEL right now. |
|
|
|
Wow. I was only kidding, but at least they picked the honourary smurf and made it a Canadian this time.
Fine with the first 3 picks.
Have to wonder though, do the Canucks have scouts in Canada.
The Lightning had 10 Canadians, Habs had 14, the Islanders 10, Vegas 14, Blues when they won had about 14, the Canucks have 4.
SMH. - Reubenkincade
Good. That's what you get. |

Disagree.
OEL, is the best defenseman on the team and I am being serious, this time. The guy is a legit #2 and could easily be a #1 all situations defenseman, like he was, under Shaw.
As I said the other day, this trade reminds me of the ridicule and hysteria that happened when the Habs traded PK Subban for a much superior all around player in Shea Weber.
And no, I am not comparing OEL to Weber. |

Ron Delorme. I'm wondering if he's an affirmative action diversity hiring? |

We will have more than one rookie, which is not bad for a team with "no prospects" |

Trevor Wong and Peter Reynolds, respectively at 35th and 47th on EP's draft board are still available.

I think the only person in the world that shares your views on defensemen is Jim Benning

Why did I expect that bs from you? Ron Delorme has been with the scouting staff for 37 years and has been involved in a lot of the new shiny players including Elias, Hughes, Podkolzin, and some of the previous guys like the Sedins and Kesler, Bieksa etc.
Please stop with your bs Kaptaan.
