It’s so different between goalies development and skaters. If a goalie gets the nod, he’s usually in for the game. A player’s development is affected by so many different variables, in particular quantity/quality of ice time and who they are lined up with/against.

Being a student of the game is huge. Skaters who rely on everyone else to help or teach only go so far. Hence hockey IQ is one thing but those that study learn & keep getting better. Talent alone is never enough.

Somebody will take a chance in JV on a min contract. Nothing to lose for a team like a Buffalo or cap strapped team like the Pens or Caps looking for a cheap reclamation.

The team Lefty thinks is doing such a great job.

Just my opinion, which is pretty worthless, but I think OEL will be good. I think he lost focus in AZ, they never played many meaningful games. Sometimes change is good for the soul.
