The WHL & Q are tough to gauge & the OHL has many more to pick from but seem to have inflated stats. - Nighthawk
Whl is the most projectable. |

God this comment section fills up fast.
I just wanna know what the consensus is regarding the trade with all you super fans.
Personally I like it. Think The Hockey Guy is being a bit of a Debby downer. - RonPielep
I saw the Hockey Guy & yes he was skeptical. I personally like the trade a lot & the ideas behind it. It was time for need & losing picks in this draft & next is ok. |

Ron Frances: Seems like the players we wanted were picked just ahead of us.
If that isn't a hardy Welcome to Seattle then nothing is. - VANTEL
I read it as GM’s were not going to do him any favours. Also he doesn't have the right chips to use. Hockey trades are more likely. |

Trigger warning!
Drance broke down the trade into three pieces that make sense, agree or not, here’s the short version.
1. 9th pick in 2021 plus Roussel for Garland. Good trade, you make this deal all day long.
2. 2023 7th plus Beagle and Eriksson for OEL. Risky bet based on play and money remaining. Basically trading one year of bad money for 6 years of bad money.
3. 2022 for 12.5% salary retention on OEL. Good value for what it is. - 1970vintage
My summary…
Got a top 6 winger for need.
Risk/reward OEL bounces back at a more palatable contract.
Sped up the build 1 year & less cap for UFA mistakes. |

How long before Francis gets fired? - Bettmanhatesus
Well Bruckheimer and partners have sh it loads of money so they could hire a new GM every month. |

Always that yes. Some deals are time sensitive & the reality. |

Good breakdown but the bold part is pure guess work. He's only 30, he could come in put up great numbers for 3-4 years. Just because he's had regression doesn't mean its 100% going to continue. He can bounce back. Just playing devils advocate. |

Now they literally have to move Holtby or Schmidt just to complete the roster (with cheap pieces). Think they move Schmidt, hopefully for a 2022 first and a D prospect. That would be a big win. |

Yeah, he qualified part two with risk but acknowledged it could work out.
OEL doesn’t even have to “bounce back”, he just has to be Edleresque. |

Trash destinations like Edmonton need to overvalue draft picks. Whereas nice destinations like Van, can undervalue draft picks if they have cap space to sign UFAs. |

I think the noise about OELs decline and poor analytics is overblown but I guess we will know soon. |

He’s quality that got stale in Arizona. No where but up to go. I’m not worried & he is still top pairing D what we lacked big. |
