That’s irrelevant. - Peter Richards
The level and quality of a player is completely relevant. As if because Fletcher signed Parise and Suter to an 8 year deal, that means he would do the same for Ristolainen? Stating it's irrelevant is absurd.

Fletcher started the process virtually everone wanted. He felt pressure to recover from last years disaster. I dont think anyone feels that this team as currently constructed wins a cup, but they are better. Risto may continue to be the analytical pariah he was in Buffalo, but he's worth the risk. Anyone that really believes they would consider trading Coots is kidding themselves. With some depth additions and a backup goalie this is the team we go into battle with next season. If they improve their PP and PK numbers they will make a run for the playoffs. |

Stating only players of elite caliber gets long term contracts is absurd. Less likely yes. But stop being so dramatic. |

Serious question, has anyone in our division really made any good additions yet? I know free agency hasn’t started but when you consider the expansion draft and our trades, I think we’ve made the most improvements. Our team also shouldn’t lose anyone in free agency like some of our division. Could it be argued we now have the best defense (on paper) in our division? Maybe Carolina is better? |

Laughable. Status quo flyers fan. Aren’t you just tired of this. No cup in sight team. Wouldn’t you rather build the team like all these current cup winning teams and just enjoy the ride? Or have we just resigned ourselves to playoffs at best thinking. |

JB gambling OEL finds his form. Garland will fit in nicely comes down to what contract gets signed. Hoping 4/4m. - Nighthawk
As a Coyotes observer, I like the trade for both teams. Yotes need roster players for this year and picks for the future. They have cap space to get players like Ghost and acquire picks. I see them using their five (5!) 2022 second round picks to sweeten tdl moves and get 2022 1st round picks. I wouldn't be shocked to see them with 3 additional 1st round picks next year. Chayka left a hell of a mess. Fortunately, the team doesn't have enough ardent fans that their attendance will suffer.
Garland is a good player but gets pushed off the puck a lot. He'll play on the perimeter, then dart inside for a scoring opportunity/rebound. He's deceptively quick. OEL is a solid NHL defender but massively overpaid. At best he's a #2. I think a change of scenery benefits both players, but there is added pressure in the Vancouver market. |

I see concerns about risto and what we gave up but two weeks ago if you told me our top four would be provorov, Ellis, sanheim and rr without having to hold salary on ghost or Jake I would have been (and am) thrilled. This might work it might not but glad to see some moves being made for the now If rr is not a fit or the team implodes we’ll likely flip him at the dl for a low first anyway so giving up a second and Haag who Would have been pushed far down the lineup and a second is good. Might explode but I’m good with that risk. Fletch addressed the top and second d pairs, our need for muscle and also a great pk/speedy winger who is a shoot first guy in a weeks time. That’s a lot of boxes checked off already |

What window? If fletch thinks the moves he add are good enough to win cup he’s delusional. Keeping coots/g is the worst thing that can happen. And even if it were possible how big/long is that window open for? I wouldn’t give g more than 1-2 mil on yearly basis in extremely reduced 5 on 5 pp specialist role. He’s done as a major cog on team. - Stayin alive
Usually don’t argue here but…….couts and roo will be near a wash salary wise we can walk from g if necessary but filling the hole couts would leave is not likely. |

Carolina lost a few guys, didn’t they?
NYR we’re already decent, and added Goodrow. They’re officially a problem. 3 solid lines. Fox is the real deal, and Shesty has a very high ceiling
The Isles seem revamped, but their defense certainly took a hit. I’m not certain of their cap situation.
But yeah, most teams have been idle

If Risto gets a deal, is Sanheim gone?
That would be 4 hefty contracts on the blue line.
Not sure if both Sanheim or Risto is here in 12 months |

Kinda makes you wonder if Risto is a 1 year guy and then a cap dump.
A couple high picks and Hagg to drop close to 6m
But then you gotta replace him, so maybe not |

When I saw what we paid for Risto, I thought there'd be an announcement a short time later that the Flyers gave him a contract extension. Could still happen I guess. But if we end up paying that much for 1 year of Risto and don't go deep in the playoffs, this trade is a loss for us. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. |

If Risto walks, then essentially combined with the Ghost trade, you gave up Hagg and those picks for $10m in cap space next season.
I like having picks, but I guess that’s some sort of consolation |

That’s what I was saying. I like risto but giving up the picks AND is resigned does it cost us sanheim? What does sanheim bring in trade value? Do we even want to keep risto over sanheim? And if York explodes or plays really really well how does that play in? I mean I guess it’s better to have that problem than not. At least that’s the way I’m looking at it |

Okay…didn’t realize he wouldn’t consider the Flyers. As I said, a like-player then. - NC Flyers Fan
I dont know anything about his preferences
Pretty sure he enjoyed his time as Flyer but at some point you need to move on
With Jake it was 10 years playing as Flyer
For Raffl it was the 500 games played mark

A very humid Monday morning. Who is the GM looking at to fill out the roster? Could it be a 3rd line center? Perhaps a 4th line center? A vet 6/7th dman?
Def a goalie just a matter of who. Maybe Kuemper as the Ghost future considerations!!!! |

At this point I think the best we could expect is definitely a backup goalie and possibly a veteran depth forward/center.
Except for what we gave up to get RR, Im pretty happy with what Fletch has done so far. Two top 4 D and a scoring winger is pretty good for the current team.
I just worry that if we don't resign RR, we gave up a first round pick, 2nd round, and roster player for a one year rental. That would be insane.
