The next couple years will include a lot of these types of transactions (player for nothing in return). Many here aren't giving enough consideration to the flat cap and its repercussions. I a few weeks time, the Buch trade return will look good.

Some have given ample consideration and outlined why it was a bad trade.

Also, since teams are so strapped, why not weaponize the cap space the rangers have and pick up a good player or pick? It's hard to see Drury's endgame other than Dolan said get tougher or look elsewhere, which is plausible given what we know.

Nope. GMs are now really focused on 2, 3 , and 4 seasons ahead ....especially NYR, who will have a ton of talent coming off ELCs. Teams know this and their offers are reflective of that
