And they got their man. They weren't going to let the "defensively-inept puck-moving defenseman" spot go unfilled |

For most players it would be ridiculous but Ovi is not human. |

Ovi has one goal, break the all time NHL goal record. Then he is off to Russia. |

His hair turned grey when he was 30, I think he will be fine through the contract |

Needs to average 33g a year over the life of that contract to break Gretzky's goal-scoring record. I think he does it. |

I would agree but he is likely going to be at least as durable as Jagr. He has an outside chance to flirt with 1000 goals. |

Jeez! Never thought that record would be broken, but now there is a real chance it happens. |

Well, the peace here was nice while it lasted. - JRR1285
I don't understand. Isn't $5.8M exactly the kind of contract we were looking to avoid? It would be squarely in the way of paying Kaapo and Vitali what we hope they will deserve in a couple years. And, we got a needed skill set in return.
I just don't get all the hate on this one. And again, I am a big Buch fan. |

Same here. Although, I think it's worth stating that Ovi certainly seems to have that goal in mind as a motivator. If Gretzky cared about it one bit, he could have easily reached 1000.
Christ, the season he scored 92 he had 11 empty net assists!! Wasn't concerned with 100 in a single season, either. |

Kakko and Krav, assuming this season goes well, theyll both be due something like 2.5m to 3m in a bridge deal. Combined is the sum Buch got paid. So yea… |

It wasn't a response solely to you. I just feel like I'm missing some element of how paying Buch that money would have been good for the short term future of the Rangers. |
