What's TB's history? Hedman, Kucherov & Vasilevskiy all extended one year before those contracts took effect. Something to watch tomorrow -- Brayden Point. One year remaining in current deal. Thinking eight years, around Kucherov & Vasilevskiy's $9.5M AAV. |

Well, question becomes... is he loyal to the team that drafted him and gives them a discount or does he want to get paid.
Personally, if I was in his position, Id have my cake and eat it too. Hes one of the best players in hockey, he deserves to get paid like one.
Avs just signed Makar to a 9m contract. MacKinnon is due 11m per, Rantanen got 9.25m as soon as his ELC ended... yet hes being forced to settle for a 7x7? Thats f'd up. |

What's f'd up is that of Landeskog does sign for 7 mill, then the Avs will 36 mill invested in 4 players once MacKinnon sign for 11 mill.....scary
IMO, the Avs offer is respectful, but an offer they expect Landeskog to turn down |

There were a lot of people drafted ahead of other late round studs in many drafts. |

Landeskog has to decide very shortly on that, with Friedman's "on the table" words used sounding like that is the Avs final offer.
Should Landy opt for more money, the Blues could be the favorite to sign him with word prior to the Expansion Draft having their reason for opting not to protect Ivan Barbashev being due to their interest in signing Landeskog if reaching free agency.
In addition, St. Louis could also be his own "favorite" landing spot, since Elliotte Friedman mentioned a couple of weeks ago that "he is very tight with Ryan O'Reilly, and they've kept in touch through "the whisper network of the NHL" knowing STL. is interested." Friedman also stated then that the Kings and Preds were as well; before later word came of the Isles, and possibly the Rangers shifting that way if not acquiring Eichel. |

What are the Rangers up to? Is it Blake Coleman or bust at this point at center? They really aren't attached to anyone else |

I don’t think there is really a better option available than Strome.
I’m okay with Strome being 2C. I would expect more than a PPG season from him this year with that chemistry that has been building with Panarin each season.
He may be a product of Panarin to an extent, but at least we know they complement each other and are capable of putting up big numbers together. |

Then I don’t get trading one of your better players. Thought the plan was to open up cap space for a center which is a desperate need on this team. They are trying to make the playoffs next year, don’t see how with what they have down the middle |

Nate Schmidt traded to Winnipeg
So they acquired another defenseman and still haven’t signed Staley or Pionk to new deals |

I think trading Buch was less about cap space this year (but it will help next summer not having that extension he just signed on the books) and more about freeing up a top 6 spot/ice time for Kakko/Laf/Kravstov.
We've all poop on the Rangers for not putting those kids into a position to succeed, so Drury went ahead and opened up a prime spot on the wing to slide all those kids up.
And because those kids slide up, that now opens up a slot in the bottom 6 for one of these high-character, Cup-winning, hard-to-play-against physical forwards that Drury is clearly trying to bring in.
If we kept Buch:
Laf - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Kreider - Chytil - Kravstov
Blais - Rooney - Goodrow
Now that we traded him:
Laf - Zibanejad - Kakko
Panarin - Strome - Kravstov
Kreider - Chytil - Goodrow
Blais - Rooney - Gauthier
I think the idea is that the second roster is the better "team". Yes, we lost Buch and are basically replacing him with Gauthier, and Buch >>> Gauthier individually, but it allows the lines to be constructed in a way where both the 3rd and 4th lines have hard-hitting, physical players and the top 6 have all our young studs that we really need to take the next step. |

It’s definitely a gamble but one that could pay off huge if Laf and Kakko breakout. Also, your team 1 shouldn’t include Blais. Gauthier or Barron would be on the 4th line I suppose. I do like the makeup of that roster though. No dedicated goons, just hard nosed, solid hockey players in the bottom 6. Would like Chytil off 3C though. |

I feel thats an easy fix.
Signing Martinook and Glendening solves that problem.
I think our biggest need is fixing 3C, which again I dont think is particularly difficult. Signing Bonino is the quick fix. Trading Chytil for Dvorak is the other option.
I dont think Strome has to be absolutely traded. |

No one is realizing that Goodrow is the 3rd line center. That’s why he got what he got. He took 300+ faceoffs this season
Strome or Chytil are getting moved for this to happen, which is just a matter of when imo |

Bonino took double the amount of faceoffs at a 52% clip, prior to this year finished 12th and 13th in the Selke voting.
I see Goodrow as more of a swiss army knife, whereas Bonino is a pure defensive center.
Kreider, Bonino/Dvorak, Goodrow is a far superior line to Kreider, Goodrow, Gauthier |
