I’m sure they’re high on him. If thinking like how the Rangers are thinking, building a big physical nasty team, don’t u think they’d prefer 6’2 210 lb Schneider who plays that type of game and is very good offensively on top of that vs 5’10 174 lb Nils who plays soft and isn’t very good in his own end?

Is Nils not good in his own end? The first time I’m hearing that and would be weird considering how highly regarded he is.

And if it came down to it and Buffalo wanted Nils I would do the same. But my point is I am not rejecting a Eichel trade if they demand one. And with JD no longer here and some of the moves being made I think they may rate nils higher at this point.

They picked up Blias, Goodrow and Nemeth. Three physical players. How does that make them side with a small offensive defenseman over a big physical multi tool defenseman that was coached by Gallant in the World Juniors?

Pulock 6’2
Leddy 6’
Dobson 6’4
Greene 5’11

Hedman 6’6
Foote 6’4
McD 6’1

Sergachev 6’3
Rutta 6’3

Weber 6’4
Petry 6’3
Edmundson 6’4
Kulak 6’1
Romanov 6’
Chiarot 6’3

One defenseman out of the final 4 playoff teams under 6’. The grind of the playoffs isn’t built for small defenseman, you can get away with 1, but I don’t think your getting very far with 2.

Considering Nameth is a steady stay at home Swedish defensemen now signed for 3 years, yea sounds like they want someone there to pair Nils with who can help him feel comfortable and let him play his offensive game

Supposedly he improved this past year but struggled in the past. Not sure how much he’s improved or how bad he was but it was something he was working on. I’m not trying to crap on the kid, I hope he plays himself into Calder contention, I just think long term Schneider is the better option he’s just not ready yet. I also read he didn’t play physical AT ALL, but his coaches told him to play in the NHL he would have to and supposedly he added a little physicality to his game. Again, how much? I don’t know, but he improved it supposedly.

I don’t think they trade either right now. I think they want to see a year of both and whoever is having the better year will be with the big club while the other logs minutes in the A. They’re both too promising. Find a 3C that can take faceoffs that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

In a way it’s a continuation of the rebuild. They reform their style of play, while not parting with anything significant for the future until there are more answers.

I know this differs from the implied marching orders from Dolan, but the team is definitely more difficult to play against right now which checks a box.

Probably wrong, just thinking out loud. Hopefully today is fun
