Not worried, just posed a question. |

What the fudge is going on with Bowman? Plus Suter no QO and agent says he’ll probably hit UFA status? Bowman really failing hard. |

Seriously don't know? Gus was one of the original 7 NASA astronauts. 2nd American in space. Died in a fire with two other astronauts during a test of the Apollo moon capsule. Think that line was from the movie The Right Stuff.
Purdue Engineering graduate by the way. |

Grissom AFB near Kokomo, IN is named after him. He died in the Apollo 1 fire. Yes, that line is from ‘The Right Stuff’ one of the best movies ever made.

Lots of astronauts from Purdue, including Neil Armstrong. I married into a Purdue family. One of the hardest engineering programs to get into. |

He flew the 2nd sub-orbital Mercury flight in 1961. Upon landing in the ocean, the door to his capsule blew off - he was rescued but the capsule sank.
In 1965, he captained the first crewed Gemini space flight. To honor his first capsule that sank, he called this one the Unsinkable Molly Brown. |

Didn't they all say he "screwed the pooch" in that incident? |

I was in 2nd or 3rd grade during that Mercury flight. Walter Cronkite's commentary was piped into the classroom through the PA system.

I had Sister Earnest What's-her-name in 2nd grade. I believe those nuns were somehow born already 80 years old. |

It is easy to downplay in our minds because we know how it came out, but those were some brave humans (to borrow from Eddie O). |

Yeah - that he got scared and blew the door himself. I’m not sure it was proven on way or the other - but he did do the Gemini flight. |

I certainly didn’t have to deal with the nuns, but I was in junior high for the first Explorer satellite flights - they let us watch the launches on TV.
I remember (IIRC) the first attempt ended in failure - it blew up on the launch pad or something. It was a time of paranoia - how come the Reds (not the baseball team - they changed their name to “Redlegs” for a couple of years back in the 50s) put up a satellite and we couldn’t. |

Yes - and resourceful.
John Glenn’s flight - the first orbital - something went wrong with the automatic reentry systems or something - he had to fly the capsule down.
Something was always going wrong, and people actually had to figure out - on the fly, as it were - how to fix or overcome it. |

Is there even room for him on the roster? Clearly the Hawks are giving Nylander another shot. Gaudette and Hagel just resigned.
Connolly still on the roster. I assume Hardman gets a shot too since he is under contract. Kurashev will be on the roster.
Then you have Strome still and presumably Borgstrom gets a shot to stick.
Perhaps the Hawks think Enwhistle is ready for a full season? There are a lot of bodies for the bottom 6. - bhawks2241
When did Hagel re-sign? Last I read it wasn't going well. |

SB got his "marketing" degree at Notre Dame. We'll see him working at a Martin's Grocery store in South Bend soon. Just a plain brutal GM. - Hawkytalk
Pronman has his top 24 list for the 2022 draft out. Here's what one scout said of the list:
"Most of the guys you have in the top 10 (of this list) would be candidates to be top-five picks in the 2021 class,” said an NHL scout".
Sillinger this yr, next yrs top 10-15 pick then break the bank for a Seth Jones in next yrs free agency. |

This is a bummer. He's good bottom 6 that can play top 6 I think. Reminds me of Bolland. Hope we can sign him. - Popsghostly
Sorry but not even close to David Bolland material. He was the glue to those teams defensively and also provided huge offensive production when needed and the Super Pest that got under the opposition's star's skins relentlessly. Suter meh IMO. We have a ton of those kind in this organization. Just how many bottom six guys do we need ?
I'm still waiting for Bowman to take advantage of some of these teams that are in salary cap hell, just like he was for all those years. Where is our Brian Bickell with the TT sweetener ???? Somebody please post when Bowman accomplishes that feat.

It'll be interesting to compare the 2021 and 2022 drafts (leaguewide) in ten years and see how accurate they were in their assessment. |

Without having seen Hawk draft pick Dman Allen besides the WJC-18 and reading around since, along with what a guy who I trust told me, Dillion is what I envision the Hawks seeing in Allan.

More interesting to see how Stan is going to recoup a decent first round pick for next summer.
I know he’s going to do it: I just don’t know how. |
