Yikes two Russian goalies don't get Ogi going. Lehner has as bad a rebound control as any goalie.
- rpeters01

How does being Russian make a bad or good goalie? Khudobin took Stars to the Final.

The point is that older goalies like the ones mentioned would be comfortable sharing the net and not being the #1, while being effective and having a calming presence.

Suban is 27, has as much NHL experience as some of these guys, played in big games and when Lankinen tired we forget threw 2 shutouts last year. I don't think we need anymore backup than him and he will be cheap. They love him in the locker room. Lankinen has proven he can rise to the occasion I'm going with those two and pocketing the cap space until the Defense and Forwards are figured out.

- rpeters01

I feel dirty saying this, but I agree.

Only way I want to bring in a vet is if it’s a cap dump (like Fleury) that nets additional assets for taking on a contract.

That would cause a disruption in the force on The Buzz!

the biggest question is can lankinen handle the load of number one goalie for 82 game season. A veteran backup is needed to help him imo.
- Scott1977

I think last year was harder on Lankinen, the schedule was pretty much 7 games every 2 weeks, and when he was playing extremely well JC kept starting him. We'll find out how durable he is this year.

There are some pretty clear holes to fill in other places in the lineup. Save the money for the forward slots and defense and try to button up the defense elsewhere before blowing big money on a goalie. They still have a number of player situations they have to resolve and they have way too many forwards if Reichel and Borgstrom are expected to start in Chicago.

Oh yeah, one more thing. They are still playing in the Colliton system. So if every forward line doesn't have at least one excellent defensive forward (especially since the Kane line figures to have none), why waste money on another goaltender. Unless you receive major assets in a salary dump...

Another nice write up Theo. Will name of players qualified or non qualified be released today? I have a feeling that they qualify Z today, we’ll see.
- Angotti

They should be. Today is the the deadline for QO's.

Not even a mention of Ryan Suter on your list Theo. Stanley may be planning another big splash signing for Wednesday morning.

Yeah noticed this too. However, great write up, Theo.

Nothing much exciting on that list and given we've already made our splash with Jones, I don't think anything big is happening. But then again I thought Jones was going to Colorado for the last year of his current contract.

Let's see what happens.

We need to move Z and/or deHaan if we are to sign any UFA D men as the blueline is a bit crowded. Same with the forwards. Hopefully we can get at least a third for the parts we have to offer.

Assuming the league plays in the Feb 2022 Olympics, the frequency of games is pretty much the same as last year.

From a fan standpoint, I love the compressed schedule. Hate the Olympics and the 2 week break though.

Love the Olympics. Hope NHL can work this out as NHL should have a pretty good chance at a high end medal. Hawks aren't winning the cup so I am not concerned about the extra workload on top end players.

Saw posts about getting a veteran goalie. Think if the money is right it makes sense. Team needs to start solidying the back end so younger D men can play with confidence knowing each mistake isn't a -1.

I don't expect many/any more UFA signings. Maybe a cheap veteran D man depending upon what happens with Mr Glass and Frankenstein.

I would love to see Stan not QO Z. It means he's found a better use for ~$4M. Unless the fax machine broke.

dont believe Hawks want to go to arbitration with Suter. See if they can ink him to a bridge deal before then.

Not holding my hopes up that they can get much for Zadorov. At this point, would almost prefer they walk away and sign a veteran d man on the cheap next year then dress that goof.

problem is Hawks have been allegedly actively shopping Zadorov since last deadline if you believe the blue check marks.

SO either Stan is asking TOO much, or the offers are well below market value.....game of chicken and at this point....just walk away. Last you want to do is pay this guy close to 4+ million and get stuck with him.

If you or i were Ryan Suter,
We definitely do not want to play defence under Colliton. Nor play for a team as bad as Chicago.

Pius Suter has yet to receive a qualifying offer from the Blackhawks. They have until later today to do so. It’s possible a deal gets done today, but the Blackhawks likely don’t want to qualify Suter and go to arbitration with him. He’d have a solid case with his rookie numbers.

The Indy Fuel will get enough players out of this year's draft.
