Gaudette just resigned for 1 year, under a million per Ben Pope.

Just a perspective on the Seth Jones contract. In 2008 the Hawks signed Brian Campbell 8 years at 7.14M. Campbell was 29 years old at the time and the deal was 12.6% of the Hawks cap space based on the cap at the time.

I know Jones deal was technically an extension, but he was essentially going UFA after this season without an extension. Jones will be turning 28 when next season starts and his deal will take up 11.66% of the cap.

I'm not saying these guys are identical players but it's a comparison for deals with high profile dmen.

Pre-salary cap v. post

Campbell, maybe because of that cap hit, was a 2010 purge casualty

Do you really want to pay him $3M ?

He's arbitration eligible and was on pace for ~20 goals in his first season prorated.

I don't get why you don't qualify Kampf if he was on the protected list for expansion draft.
- Lido_Shuffle

Could have a deal already in place like Gaudette per Ben Pope

While I do not think Suter is worth a contract north of $3M, we do have the cap and flexibility to flip him at the deadline. Something is fishy about not giving him a QO

Or if not, they can still negotiate with them, they just can negotiate with everyone else come the 28th.

Blackhawks sign Adam Gaudette to a one-year, $997,500 deal. That was a hairy few minutes for the Gaudette camp.

Because he is horrific defensively, and if you are going to go strictly by offense, you keep Strome as your 3 C (or Borgstrom) becuase Strome's offensive upside is way higher,

What we want is to complain about overpayment AND complain about efforts to save money.

We want to complain that they protected Kampf, and then also complain that they don't want to overpay them.

We like our fluid female doging.

Extremely poor asset management by Stan.

Why not trade him if you didn't think you could get a deal done? He had a perfect opportunity at the entry draft to recoup a pick or two.

Suter must have value to a lot of teams out there.

- Tyler Cameron

I would think Stan tried but if we don’t want him at to high a cap hit why would another team?

Not necessarily, you have Borgstrom, Kurashev, Guadette that can play center. If Kampf is not resigned, I can see a Luke Glendening getting a contract here.

That's fair, I was expecting 2 years @ $950,000.

Let’s hope he plays to a level where his salary and term need to be bumped up significantly.
