Let's be fair here. Were the Sabres a successful and well run franchise before Eichel came along? I'd say they weren't. The list of players is a long one that have gone to Buffalo, underperformed for whatever reason, and were miserable by the time they left and just glad to be away from the franchise. Many went on to thrive elsewhere, one example being ROR.

Eichel hasnt helped the situation, but I think the more accurate depiction of the circumstances is players want out before the Sabres ruin them.

Id be the last person to tell you the Sabres are a well run organization, but my pet peeve is "players leave here and excel"...its just NOT true......and to the extent it IS true..the percentages are right in line with the history of the Sabres.

Ill use your example,ROR. Did he go to his new team and have a GREAT year??? yes...Cup?? yes...Conn Smythe??? yes.....have his next two years been on par with that great year or did he fall back to his usual statistically level?? His next year was EXACTLY what he was here.

and..if going to a new team and having a great first year...can we also say Jeff Skinner has "excelled" in Buffalo? His first year was superb, like OReilly, but then when taken away from his elite linemate, he fell back to the mean.

Ill give you Briere, but people forget that Drury fell apart when he left here. Okposo?? not worth the money?? sure...but how many FA signings for big money end up being so. Did Zadorov "excel"? Has Evander Kane "excelled"?

We've had our share of guys that were better here than they were at their previous team...Jokiharu for one....JP Dumont back in the day.

We can cherry pick forever. I just cant stand the "players leave here and "excel" crap, because it just isn't statistically true.

Just my pet peeve.

not all do but some have. my point was more that majority of players don't seem happy in Buffalo and are glad to be out. that whatever the issue is, it goes beyond Eichel. that Eichel didn't ruin or destroy the franchise, that issues have been there for awhile now. I will concede Eichel hasn't helped the situation.

Besides Glotov, the last Russian we drafted out of a Russian league was Vyacheslav Buravchikov, 6th round 2005. Last time we had a prominent Russian, drafted out of a Russian league, actually play for us that we drafted? Kalinin and Afinogenov, 98 and 97.

Between the 5th pick in 2006 (Alex Biega) and 2011 1st (Joel Armia), only Canadians and Americans were drafted.

2010 and 2011 combined produced two NHLers. Pysyk and Armia.

AIDS.

He was playing for the Remparts when we drafted him. Zadorov was out of London.

, #GoHabsGo are in talks with #LetsGoBuffalo regarding C Jack Eichel.

Im hearing the Sabres are demanding LHD Ben Chiarot, but after a dominant playoff run, the Canadiens are unwilling to part with him.

Suzuki and Caufield both remain on the table.

Now this is a joke tweet! 😅😅😅

I would LITERALLY pay ANYTHING to get Jack Eichel on the Habs.

Only untouchables I can think of are Suzuki, Caufield, Kotkaniemi, Romanov, Drouin, Armia, Weber, Chiarot, Edmundson, Petry, Kulak, Toffoli, Perry, Staal, Evans, Byron, Lehkonen, Farrell, Kidney, Roy, Price and Allen

Ive always said that's why we have to catch lightning in a bottle while guys are unable to move.

If I was a 24 year old, multi millionaire, professional athlete, Buffalo would be pretty far down on my list of cities to live.

Take Reinhart....South Beach vs. Sunset Bay. lol
