Funny and true, and you are adorable MJL. Don't let anyone tell you different. Your constant positivity and eye for minutiae and looking for someone to say a wrong word so you can jump on it is truly a talent. Keep up the good work. - bradster
Funny in a sad and pathetic way but certainly not true. The difference between you and I is I don't need to get personal. I can stick to hockey. I have the advantage.

Hart at most 3 . Why the raise ?terrible last year - wbroudy
How was he before that? at 21 he has won the only playoff series for the team in 9 years? I think last year was the outlier not the norm.
I posted a while back about the issues he had through the last year, basically being alone all the time staring at hotel walls. Had to have been hard especially when the entire team stopped playing well. |

Nick Ritchie would not be a bad target - seems like teams in our division are beefing up - Bayareaflyer
Definitely. Big physical winger. Great hands. Can chip in offensively and move up and down the lineup…. |

Some pretty callous people in here give no credence to the circumstances of the lockdown and all the rules that went along with it.
Sure you can say every team dealt with the same thing but they didn't. Local rules also applied and the draconian rules in PA and NJ were way more restrictive than say for a team in Florida or North Carolina when it came to what you could do in the outside world. |

Man. Those are great points that we all forget. So in Canada, it was very restrictive even though in my neck of the woods there were very few cases. I know it's not comparable to all the serious things that people had to deal with, but my hockey league got shut down for a good stretch and my wife was like..what's wrong with you? I love playing so much it had a negative effect on me that I hadn't realized. Miss the exercise and more importantly hanging with friends.
Point is, I can see how young players like Hart may have had mental health issues being alone all the time. You start playing poorly, it gets into your head and you can't get out and keep busy or talk it out with your teammates.
My biggest worry is that we knee jerk throw Hart under the bus for 1 bad season. For once.. I'd like to stick it out with a tender who many other teams fans see as a stud in the making. If you look at Price's progression, he had similar struggles at this age. |

I think Hart will be fine. And I also think many of the players and kids on this team will be better simply because we are back to (almost) normal.
To your point about playing hockey, I am a musician and all of my shows were cancelled with no expectation of being rebooked. Even now things are not the same. And while I may be playing out again, its still only about 1/4 of what I was playing before the pandemic and things aren't looking up for 2022 either. Many venues shut down for good and the ones that did open up are being booked by national acts who are looking for anything to stay alive.
I lost a crap ton of money and am not sure if I will ever fully recover financially. It wears on you for sure, being stuck at home unable to do what you normally love to do.
And sadly, the rules in NJ and PA were way more restrictive while I watched other bands in other states and areas of the country getting back to normal way before we did. I simply cant pick up and travel to Florida or other states to play a one-off show....But that was what we would have to do.
It sucked watching other states open up while we remained basically in limbo.

Is there a less physical, softer group of forwards in the NHL than this group? Be hard pressed to find one. Going to get pushed around and lose a lot of puck battles. |

I agree, Risto is a nice add, but not quite enough.

Allison, Laczyncki, Farabee, Laughton and NAK are hardly shrinking violets. Softness is overblown with this team becuase JVR and Hayes dont play to their size.

Yet the Bruins didn't think he was worth a QO or didn't wanna chance him going to arbitration... why? |

Now is the time for Fletch to be patient. Yesterday showed us there are going to be plenty of options available as the training camp gets closer.
I'm sure there will be more than a few bargain options to add a little veteran grit to the forward corps as the season approaches.

He was inconsistent this past season for the Bruins. When he decided to use his size and get to the dirty areas, he was very good. However there were too many games where he was invisible. Does this sound familiar? |

I think Fletcher knows this, and is working to bring in some bottom 6 forwards with more grit and size. This is also the reason I think BMelzter mentioned recently to not be surprised if there was another trade by the Flyers, because clearly to bring a forward in, someone has to go out. |

Man.. sorry to hear that. I hope things recover for you soon.
Other than what I mentioned, we have weathered the storm quite well. It makes me sick to my stomach to think of the impact to small businesses and people like yourself who have been impacted so dramatically. Let alone those who lost people. |
