What if they cant agree on a bridge or long term deal? - hello it's me 2050
You’re creating your own scenario to try and backup your argument. If they can’t , or choose not to, come to terms on the long term deal the bridge deal isn’t too hard to figure out. |

They’re not getting rid of G at the trade deadline. They’re in win now mode. Silly dude. Just silly.
Now if your just saying this is what you would do than people can debate but if you saying this is a real possibility for this team? Then this is just silly talk. 🤦♂️ - peesinwind
Chuck Fletcher has said on record that Giroux will remain in Philly for as long as he wants. If Giroux was part of the problem, Chuck would have moved him this summer with Jake. Or at least tried to with the full NMC in mind. |

Don't see death stare moving as just signed and the GM talked him up. TK I can 100% see him being moved.

I’m just putting lines together as team stands. I’m big on cap flexibility when considering contracts and slotting of players. This team is in bad situation if you ask me. The vets they are paying are payed too much and too long term. It’s like a 50/50 split core but how does that slot in ice time ? Example g 8+ mil on top line bee1mil SHOULD BE IN THAT SPOT but will he? It’s ok to have a little of that but it’s all over the ice. Where’s Oscar slot? Allison? Frost? poop even the big $ players. Where’s Jvr slot? Hayes? |

Can’t sign guys like that, they can’t play. Changing your game for specific teams is never a good idea. Not a very physical forward group but if we can play fast and hard we will be fine . - ClaudeFather

What? Gs in the last year of a what, 8 year deal? That’s what happens with long contract man. Didn’t Farabee play on the first line majority of last year? |

That fact that we are talking about depth cowards, defenders and goalies means at last this board finally gets it. We don’t have room for much more baring a hockey trade. Which I wouldn’t put past Chuck right now but I doubt it would be anything more than a 4th PK guy with size and versatility.
Most of the line up is set good. 3C is the most unpredictable but we have options there. I would hope that Frost can fill a protected center roll given some veteran line mates. That would them to use the very flexible Laughton somewhere else as needed. - peesinwind

I’m all for adding a depth guy at the deadline depending where we are in the standings but it’s not to match the islanders physicality |

after how blunt he was about how the team played last year, I just assumed that comment was Fletcher's burner account and "cowards" was how he really felt.

I expect Oscar to have a very good year if he is back to his normal weight and health. Slotting Allison above him to me is a little premature. Besides he will be hurt anyway!!
I dont think the vets they have now are paid too much and for too long. Hayes is the only one really i think.

Well, seeing as how they are in the div, and in the playoffs a pure skill game like the Leafs play doesn't translate well, it's something that has to be considered. You don't over pay for those types, but at the deadline it should be looked at. The team PK and its overall defensive play regressed from what we saw in 2020 playoffs. Losing Nisky sure didn't help either. |

I'm not looking to jettison TK. Two years ago, he was one of our top producers. It'd have to be a massive massive overpay as I see him as a core guy. Last year was a down year for most of the young players. You need to put it into context of development for he and Hart as examples. |

As much as I want to think Frost can be that 3rd line center I have a hard time putting him that starting 9. He needs to have a great camp and show he is healthy.
Danult would be a solid 3 C but he will probably price himself out of that role with the Flyers.
Derek Stepan?
Tyler Bozak?
Nick Bonino?
Riley Nash?
Alex Wennberg?
Could any of these guys fill a 3rd line center role on a 1 year deal and a price the Flyers can afford? - J35Bacher
Would like wennberg and have mentioned him before. Now looking at it we may not have the space left.
I see more of a glendening type. Him , brassard even cizikas may command too much.
Sanhiem contract will be interesting. Will depend on the length. Hart I see 2-3 years about 2.5-3.3 per. |

Laughton or TK need to go for balance - get back those picks and more cap flexibility - Bayareaflyer
I don't see why picks are that important to most... This article always jumps to mind, when people start talking about picks. https://guelphstorm.com/o...great-for-nhl-draft-picks The heart of it; "The truth is that very few players taken in the NHL draft this weekend will ever play in the NHL... ...(study) looked at the drafts between 1990 and 1999. Of the 2,600 hundred players drafted just 494 or 19% played in at least 200 contests. 63% of first round picks played but less than 25% of second round picks survived and only 12% of third rounder selections. Former NHL general manager Doug MacLean said his math over the last decade showed that only 15% of second round picks ever become impact players."
Most of our lineup is 1st rounders. Generally, any impact player is a 1st rounder. Sure, you can point to a few exceptions (like Datsyuk drafted at 171st overall). But, these are flukes - you can't build an organization on lower round draft picks.
My belief, keep your 1st round pick, try to keep the second, feel free to trade 3-7 rounders. If you look at the Hagg/Ristolainen trade - we trade a 1 and 2... We got a guaranteed player versus hopes and dreams. Take the names out of it and we got this...
100% NHL'er top four Defenseman (1st rd, 8th overall)
for
100% NHL'er 6-7 Defenseman (2nd rd, 41st overall)
63% NHL'er Defenseman (1st rd, 13th overall)
25% NHL'er Defenseman (2n rd)

No bee didn’t play on top line majority of time. That would e been g. And if that’s what happens with long contracts maybe they should stop giving out long contracts that take players well into their 30’s and past their primes. You want to give long deal? Identify your core pieces THAT produce. Like farabee. 🤷♂️ |

Neither party would want a 1 year. For the Flyers, Hart then becomes a UFA after only a year. That would be dumb. For Hart, he'd find it more difficult to get a big payday after a terrible year and presumably only one good year behind him. A 2 year trial with good success would make him imminently more valuable. - Letterkenney
Harts not UFA eligible until age 27...
There's nothing wrong with going 1-year at minimum raise, just as a show me. He's coming off a historically bad season. It would be totally warranted.
The only reason to go more years is to lock in a discounted rate. |

Atkinson 4 year 5.9 mil per age 32.
And again god forbid coots contract if they stupidly resign him
Jvr at 7 mil per as possible specialist in 30’s will always be overpay.
Again if you’re a team that is true cup contender yeah maybe you need that Jvr type to put over the top and you take a chance. But you can’t have 3-4 of those type contracts. Not in a cap world. I guess if they are elite talents you could possibly have a slight chance it would work. And very slight chance. These players are far from elite |

Joel Farabee most frequent line mates jvr and coots by a landslide , which was the top line. The majority of his time was with them and very top 6 heavy after that but good call |

Never really gave it thought until now but I'd probably trade Lindblom for the right defensemen. Would definitely have to be a player with some term. I don't really like the idea of dumping him for picks. It'd have to be a 3rd round pick and a really good prospect or a 2nd round pick+.
