We already have a decent backup in Laughton for the role , no need to get someone else. - ClaudeFather
Agreed. Put Frost in the lineup. Let him play and grow. Flyers have strong forward depth. If you want to add a fairly cheap 4th line center fine. I'm reading about adding Nick Foligno and player like that. For what? Which young player are you taking out of the lineup. Let's get a backup goalie. A decent vet #7 and drop the puck. This is not a cup team that belongs trading a player like Lindblom for another defenseman. It's flat out ridiculous. Play the kids!

Yea let’s see this thing play out. We have made the moves to address the defense, probably need a #7. Get the backup goalie , resign our guys and let’s roll. If something is needed address it in season once there has been some evaluating.
Had such a hard time staying healthy for the Phantoms. Wasn’t in the lineup consistently. - NC Flyers Fan
Yup, and he was a high 2nd round pick, and BTW, this or something like this happens with most picks, which is why its silly to lament trading one now and then to get an actual good player in here!
So as AZ continues to take bad contracts and get paid with draft picks, what is Seattle's plan here? - BenderRodriguez
I really thought they would be trying to accumulate picks for next year’s draft so they can build the foundation wide on their prospect farm. Eight picks, only one extra, so far…

Actually it's an argument for keeping and using picks. The more players you select, the better your chances of hitting on one.

I don't disagree, however I wonder if we have enough in our bottom 6. Right now potential lines could be:
I would say Frost and Laczynski are unknowns right now. I suppose the Flyers can start the season with them and see how they do, and then if needed make a trade for a center, but you have to at least acknowledge there is potential hole here at either 3C or 4C.
As far as thinking this is not a cup team, I really don't want Fletcher to have that attitude coming into the season. The Flyers have all the ingredients to be a real cup contender, experienced coaching, a good goalie, a really good defense now thanks to Fletcher's trades, and a very deep forward group. I'm all for giving some kids a chance, but if they falter I want Fletcher to go all in on bringing in a player that can really solidify this group further and enable the Flyers to seriously contend.
My primary motivation of having Morin in the lineup more regularly if healthy is that I don’t really think Sanheim is all that good on the PK and would feel unsure of sticking York on the PK. York can get top minutes in the AHL for part of the season, slot in for injuries or learn to play the right side.
The PK deficiency team wide is greater than the improvement York could make on the PP in my opinion. Fletcher added Ellis and Risto who are very good on the PP.
A lot depends on everyone’s health on the d-core and how ready they are in preseason battles for spots. I will wait and see, but I won’t immediately exclude Morin from the running on the 6th spot. - NC Flyers Fan
I would not be surprise is first chuck signed another depth d man. But also if york made a strong push out of camp was sent down until dec Jan then was up for the remainder of the year.
Nice to see Sam get another try. This is an important year for him. As he said. He stayed healthy and can have a good offseason. Next year he will either prove he can be a capable 7th, 6 th d man or if he is just a ahl call up.
As to your convo about NAK. One good showing. One bad. I could understand if he is traded but again important season for him with the competition as well.
Whoever said it, yeah I could see him being dangles for a 4c. Still think we try for glendening or bellemare. The other are too expensive.
Also. Someone was all about him last year. Not sure what the price would be but to have a Bennet like player for the 3c/4c would be great.

You're asking if they have enough in their bottom 6. Looking at your lineup, if Lindblom regains his strength after a full off season and training camp, you're wasting him as a player on the 4th line. Allison has the talent to be a top 9 forward if not higher after some time.
I would disagree that they are a real cup contender on paper. I see them as a 2nd tier team. This team going all in is a serious mistake.

Ratcliffe needs a good year. Big kids take longer. With the talent down there the phantoms should be fun to watch.

Maybe they are waiting for FA day, people will see that the players expect to get paid, regardless of a flat cap and will then move accordingly to take salary and picks

You’re right about this. But defenseman take a long time and sometimes you need someone experienced now. The thing is about the Ristolainen acquisition is that although it is fairly easy to understand why analytics has little value in his particular case. I also can’t say 90-100% it will definitely work. Now, I hope that it does, and I will be rooting for him but what if it doesn’t? Big overpay. If it works out, I will try hard to forget the draft picks. The extra 2nd in trade for him was high even best case scenario.
