Actually it's an argument for keeping and using picks. The more players you select, the better your chances of hitting on one. - MJL
OK, but in the mean time we have to sit here and watch the same crap year after year as we are told each draft how the Flyers drafted a stud player that has all the tools, only to see him get hurt, or be nothing more than a 3rd or 4th line player?? We must have balance, we must draft well and develop, and we must trade for the right players when the become available. |

I would not be surprise is first chuck signed another depth d man. But also if york made a strong push out of camp was sent down until dec Jan then was up for the remainder of the year.
Nice to see Sam get another try. This is an important year for him. As he said. He stayed healthy and can have a good offseason. Next year he will either prove he can be a capable 7th, 6 th d man or if he is just a ahl call up.
As to your convo about NAK. One good showing. One bad. I could understand if he is traded but again important season for him with the competition as well.
Whoever said it, yeah I could see him being dangles for a 4c. Still think we try for glendening or bellemare. The other are too expensive.
Also. Someone was all about him last year. Not sure what the price would be but to have a Bennet like player for the 3c/4c would be great. - Peter Richards

You're asking if they have enough in their bottom 6. Looking at your lineup, if Lindblom regains his strength after a full off season and training camp, you're wasting him as a player on the 4th line. Allison has the talent to be a top 9 forward if not higher after some time.
I would disagree that they are a real cup contender on paper. I see them as a 2nd tier team. This team going all in is a serious mistake. - MJL
Ok, so are you saying that Allison and Lindblom should be on the 3rd line, so Laughton moves down and JVR is expendable and thus should be traded? I mean there are only 12 forward positions here. The forward group looks pretty deep and loaded for a team that you say is a 2nd tier team. I really don't see them that way. The Islanders got to the final 4 two years in a row with less than what this team has right now. I believe this team can be a final 4 team, and that makes them a serious contender. |

You’re right about this. But defenseman take a long time and sometimes you need someone experienced now. The thing is about the Ristolainen acquisition is that although it is fairly easy to understand why analytics has little value in his particular case. I also can’t say 90-100% it will definitely work. Now, I hope that it does, and I will be rooting for him but what if it doesn’t? Big overpay. If it works out, I will try hard to forget the draft picks. The extra 2nd in trade for him was high even best case scenario. - NC Flyers Fan
He's 26 so if he plays really well for the Flyers, then it's okay. The analytics are in the past. We have to have an open mind and judge the player on his play from now forward. There is no doubt that playing on a bad team effects a players numbers. How a player fits in a lineup can effect it. I see it all the time in sports with talented players on bad teams. They tend to play outside of themselves and try to do too much. Instead of fitting into the flow of team. We saw that teamwide from the Flyers last year. Give the coaching staff a chance to integrate the new players and straighten out the team game.

Lol. Someone mentioned sbisa. I’d be fine with that.
I so think there’s a small small possibility suter signs a one year deal. But now I think one of the top teams will. Tampa vegas or even pens. |

They are deep at forward talent wise. That's what you're missing from your equation of thinking they're a serious Cup contender. Cup contenders have proven players throughout the lineup. We have a lot of young players. How far will they come?

If Suter signs a one year deal, it won't be with the Flyers.

I am going to wait until most teams finish their moves to see where the Flyers rank on paper. Then I’m going to watch and see how the games play out.

Looks like Pius Suter did not get a QO because the Hawks feared an arbitration award. He had a really good rookie season. As a UFA he might not be a bad gamble as a cheap depth center. This is what PHR said about him last month.
Pius Suter – Another European import, another home run. Just a year after Dominik Kubalik earned Calder Trophy votes as a 24-year-old in his first season in North America, Suter made a major impact in his debut as well. He may not be the same caliber of player as Kubalik, but with 14 goals and 27 points in 55 games he is assuredly an NHL caliber player. The Blackhawks need the depth at center too, where Suter was able to line up without issue. He may have been new to the league, but Suter did not play like a rookie, logging big minutes and finishing fourth in scoring. Chicago has nailed another free agency addition and won’t let this one season be the end of it. However, Suter’s age and arbitration rights give him far more leverage in negotiations than Hagel, a 10.2(c) limited RFA. |

Ratcliffe needs a good year. Big kids take longer. With the talent down there the phantoms should be fun to watch. - Peter Richards
If he has a good year going with the Phantoms, maybe he gets an injury call up game.

That really doesn't make much sense by Chicago. Flyers should be all over that but they probably can't afford it.

You pick someone, who we hope practices with the team, dresses for warm ups every game but only plays 1-2 games when there is a very last minute injury or the organizational depth has been sunk into 11 or so deep, then!
NHL experienced and best if he could play either side, too.

how are they going all in? They kept all their good young players, forester, frost, wisdom york. This makes no sense at all. They are set up for now and the future. The only thing meaningful they lost was a 1st in a weak draft and a few of their worst players. They are set

I don't think they should be spending any money right now on a dime a dozen 6-7 dman. Address the goaltending first. Then circle back later in the summer, or pick one of dozens that will be on waivers after training camp is over.
Or better yet, just let Morin, Zamula and York battle it out. If they all flop, then you can pick somebody up.

Oh yea, set. I must have fell asleep and missed the ascension and coronation of the Flyers as league hierarchy. Didn't realize that they're set. They didn't keep all of their good young players. As far as going all in, you aren't following the conversation. |

If the Flyers are smart, they put players like Frost and York in the lineup and leave them there. Unless they're completely overwhelmed, which I don't think will be the case.
