I hope he retires...for the Preds sake - Symba007
assuming he'll never play again, what do you ask NASH if they want to trade for him?
a 2nd round pick? a 1st? a 7th? weird situation |

Snyder sends that offer sheet that they HAD to match (given the state of the franchise at the time) and then they get punished for it too

Given he'd eat up 7.8 M in cap space until 2030? At least a first, especially if it gets done before next year's draft in Montreal. |

I've thought about that a lot.
Unique circumstances, I wish they could sue the league tbh. |

I see the Habs sending Weber back to Nash for a "B" prospect...nothing crazy. I can't see the Habs trying to screw the Preds over this. |

not the question of screwing NASH, but having Weber on the LITR is actually a good thing for MTL, it gives them more flexibility with the cap. trading him to Nash then as a price, no?
Leafs traded for LITR players a few years back, for that reason. what did they pay to acquire Horton? |

i think the chances of Danault returning are higher than most think. i don't blame him for testing the market. he's hoping there's a big score out there but if there's not, the Canadiens will be there as a fallback option. he knows the Habs are likely unable to properly replace him and will welcome him back. |

Retires early with Montreal? Only 1 yr at under 1M penalty.
He gets traded to Nashville for a pick, same cap space is open, without taking up a contract spot.
It's worse for Nashville. He retires early anywhere? 7.8M until 2030 in cap recapture penalties. |

Not at that time, it would have been a horrible look. They were building something and loosing him would have killed it.
They had just lost Suter and the RIM guy was circling. Everyone in Canada (esp MTL) basically said Nashville "didn't deserve" a team (whatever that meant) |

Why would Nashville pay anything?
If he's on LTIR with Habs it has no impact on Nashville.
What am I missing here?

if he retires before the end of the contract (still 5 y to go) it will impact Nash on the cap. like seriously. |
