My reference to 3 Cizikas' wasnt about Martin and Clutter playing that style, but more so the fact that Casey is exceptional on draws in all zones, and can basically do everything well.
Fair question, if I told you the isles sign Casey for 4 for 4, but will win the cup in that first year, do you do it? - kindlyrick
Of course, but no one can promise that. I mean, if you told me I should dump $75k of my savings right now into lottery tickets and guaranteed I'd win the lottery I'd do it, too. But without that guarantee, I'd never dump that much money into lottery tickets. |

Yep...Isles have a lot of holes to fill in really important spots, and not an unlimited amount of money to do it all with. - UIF
This is the point about overpaying 4th line players UIF. It's great the Isles gave Tampa a tough time but they still lost twice and a lack of offense against an elite team like Tampa was the reason. |

I cant guarantee that, but Lou has yet to dissapoint thus far, and his additions have all made impacts for the most part. The isles are in win now mode (weird to say). They have the team, with a few additions. Cizikas is a part of that formula, so for me i pay 4 for 4 and worry about it later. |

You cant call them the 4th line anymore. They're not a 4th line, and when you dont have multiple 10 million players, you're able to sprinkle in higher priced bottom 6. |

Call it anything you want. With the game on the line and you need a goal, it's not the line that will most likely get you the goal. You keep bringing up 10 million players when nobody wants the Islanders to be the Leafs. |

I think Lou is addressing that with the departure of Eberle, and the addition of a UFA and a healthy Anders Lee. My point in bringing up 10 million dollar players, is that because the isles dont have that, they're able to have a "4th line" that consists of 2 players who are really 3 rd liners in Clutterbuck and Cizikas. |

They're both more skilled in all facets than Matt Martin who's a true 4th liner and their salaries are commensurate. |

Yandle to PHI -- 1 year, $900K, NTC. Forgot he has played for Vigneault, so knows the coach.
Didn't Av refuse to put him on the PP when on the Rangers? |

So them being more skilled than Matt Martin makes them 3rd liners. Ok |

I may be in the minority here but I agree with u.. forever the Isles have taken heat for overpaying 3rd and 4th line players but it's their Depth and ability to roll 4 lines at any time that is really an advantage. Especially with the defense first mentality that Trotz tries to instill in his players.
it's also why some 3rd and 4th line guys are getting so much money this summer compared to previous summers. They have seen the blue print...

Who starts every single isles game? Which line is thrown out after every goal against? Who's taking important D zone draws? The formula the isles have is working, and again because they didnt grossly overpay for top 6 guys, they're able to pay for higher talent in the bottom 6.
Whether anyone agrees with this or not, Barry and Lou think they're the isles identity line. |

Maybe.. Wahlst.... nevermind.. u are probably right. He needs to stay healthy though which is going to get harder every year.

Yup but the Caps won’t make the PO’s.
You have to let go of your past and move on and the Caps need to do this imo. |

Didn't Yandle take a lot less to play for his hometown favorite Rangers? Then 2 years into his contract they shipped him out.. that should be a lesson to anyone that takes less when they are a UFA. |

He's from Massachusetts so I don't think the Rangers are his hometown team |
