I don’t think Hextall left a big mess ….it was more just time to use some of the accumulated assets on improving the Flyers. But I to am looking forward to the new look Flyers ….and it wouldn’t surprise me if Fletch has other moves in mind. - landros 2
If anything, he cleaned up a mess, but I am too looking forward to the new look Flyers.

Bill,
Do you see any probability that CF makes a hard push for an offer sheet eligible player like Svechnikov where the plan is to disrupt Carolina’s salary structure? Do the Flyers have the draft assets? Or is this just a silly season pipe dream? - mikeyo27
D....Silly season of dumb questions and pipe wet dreams

So the Vezina trophy winner goes straight up for an ECHL player. What a crazy league this has become. |

Keith Jones was on the radio either yesterday morning or this morning and was talking about moving on from Giroux as the captain. He said he didn't see any reason to do so an compared it to when Lindros was stripped of the C and it was given to Desjardins. He sort of said that the players were the ones that pushed for that change back then, but didn't expand on it. I'm not sure I've ever heard that side of that particular situation. |

I have not. I was a transplant to the area back in....'95 and immediately became a Flyer's fan but admittedly I'm a little shallow when it comes to knowledge of their history.

Not only in Canada my man.
See recent politician reactions to the Euro Super League, kneeling during the anthem, Beijing Olympics, etc.
Politicians have never seen a soap box that they didn't wanna climb on, or pass up an opportunity to virtue signal. |

Check out Jay Greenberg's two Flyers history books: Full Spectrum (complete history from 1967 to 1995-96 season) and Flyers at 50 (complete history from 1996-97 to 2015-16, plus profiles of the top 50 figures in franchise history, top 50 moments and top games). |

If this team is successful, we have Hextall in large part to thank. I'm more concerned about current Flyers management screwing up what Hextall did.

Yeah. We've discussed this before. I wonder when Hextall would have thought go time was? maybe a year or two out from now.. I don't know. TBH, Chuck hasn't gone hog wild. I am not too worried about the first we sent out this year. What I don't want is to send them out year after year like Pitt. |

In terms of the cap situation, Fletcher has gone hog wild.

Guessing Hextall would think go time is after we win a calder to prove our young guys are ready.
Chuck hasn't gone wild at all, hardly lost anything of importance, kept our young guys, and made the team better. Might seem like chuck went wild because he made a couple moves, which hextall was scared to make a trade. Cant be a successful GM if you are afraid to lose a trade.

Characterizing Hextall as scared to make a trade and being afraid to lose a trade is simply not accurate.
