If Ceci is affordable and we're stuck with MM, try to keep Ceci. I'd rather pay a little more for something I know works. |

If Vegas was going to just give MAF away to get free of the cap hit, I'm not sure why they didn't talk to us. Unless we already said we can't take him in a straight up trade, but I'd have taken him and figured it out later. |

That's pretty risky because that's all our cap space and not a full roster. |

I don’t think we could have figured out later. His cap hit was prohibitive and we really need retention. His cap hit is pretty much on the dot of our current cap space and we don’t even have a full roster. |

I'm still trying to think of CHI's long-game with this. If there were any other teams that would give up assets to take his full salary they likely would have done so, so I'd have to think CHI is aware they only way to move him is to retain a ton of money.

That was yesterday. I'm sure things will change even more between today and tomorrow.

Well maybe they are hoping he plays?
And if not, they can at least get an asset for salary retention. |

The fact that we're linked to guys like Saad leads me to believe they think they can create a little room. They're not getting a better goalie than Fleury. |

VGK GM Kelly McCrimmon says that Mikael Hakkarainen, who was acquired for Vezina Trophy winner Marc-Andre Fleury, will continue to play in Chicago's organization despite the @GoldenKnights owning his contract.

A buffalo beat is suggesting that if Chicago can't convince Fleury to play there, they could trade him to Buffalo, who would eat salary and trade him to Pittsburgh for DeSmith or Jarry +
Buffalo doesn't have a goalie under contract and has plenty of cap space. |

I think we can still get Fleury though. Even if they take Jarry we could make stuff work. |

Anyone see the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer? Man I'm digging it. Looks way better than that trash they put out a few years ago that I didn't even watch. |

Not sure why Chicago wants Fluery but really not sure why they'd trade his contract for Jarry/Pettersen. When Fluery's contract expires, you have that duo on the books for the next year, then you have Pettersen for 2 more. Pettersen isn't brutal on the cap, but it does create less flexibility for the Blackhawks.
For the Pens, you dump 2 contracts and get one that expires next season. Given RH lots of flexibility next summer. Sounds too good to be true. |

But I thought you just resign Gaudreau for league minimum, and some AHL guy plays fourth line, then Bobs your uncle. |

If I were running the Hawks I would be interested in any of our contracts either, but Bowman has totally lost his head over there so you never know what he might want or thinks he needs |

Was never a ghostbusters guy so will probably skip it, though people seem to be pretty excited about the trailer. |

If the Pens are so desperate for cap space can’t they just trade Petterson for a low level draft pick? It appears to me Hextall’s trying to look savy by not doing anything but in reality he just doesn’t really have any idea what to do. |

I would rather try and move Jarry if we are bringing in Fleury. Not against moving Petts but it would be ideal to get Jarry out if Fleury was coming in. |

Is there any current chatter in Pittsburgh about MAF ultimately ending up there? The Hawks had cap space for this move, and I can see that the Pens didn't have it at the moment. So now the Hawks can retain salary and send MAF there, or send him there for ??? |

Seems to be interest from Pitt, but only Bowman knows what he would possibly want from us. |

I'd send them Jarry for Fleury. We probably need to make a separate move for Pettersson unless the Hawks want to take him. |

Athletic report today said they aren’t interested in moving him (or math/Zucker) for futures, they want to trade them in a hockey deal. |
