Should have just taken On MAF cap hit while he was a cap dump. Trade Zucker, Jarry, Petterson for picks. New goalie and more cap room. However the GM decided to make sure McCaan and Tanev became members of the kraken so it makes Zucker a lot less expendable. Hextall just really (frank)ing sucks at his job. Rob Brown should have slashed him in the head when he came out of his crease at him.

Seems to be interest from Pitt, but only Bowman knows what he would possibly want from us.
- Victoro311

I don't know the answer to that, as I don't know your roster very well these days. I've been a bit remiss in my armchair GM duties lately. Last time, Bowman tried to make a reclamation project out of Maatta, knowing that worst case, the buyout cost was inexpensive compared to the cap hit. I'm guessing he is looking for a defenseman or a left wing. Maybe the Pens sign Saad so the Hawks can trade for him yet again and drive everyone nuts?

If the Pens are so desperate for cap space can’t they just trade Petterson for a low level draft pick? It appears to me Hextall’s trying to look savy by not doing anything but in reality he just doesn’t really have any idea what to do.
- Grinder47

It's a flat cap. Teams aren't trading for straight salary right now unless it's a slam dunk player.

Grinder has never once given a poop about the salary cap. May as well be telling this to a rock.

Haven’t multiple players all been traded for nothing this offseason so far? Only reason I’m bringing it up. Wasn’t Andrew Ladd? Slam dunk there for sure.

If you what to blame anyone for the poop situation the Pens are in now, who sucked at his job for 3+ years, blame JR! He's the one who overpaid for Zucker, overpaid for Brassard, traded practically every first round pick he ever had. I thought Tanev's contract was just awful, but I guess now he's gone he wasn't so bad!

Islanders sent over a chunk of futures to make that happen. Given the state of our cupboard, the Pens need to find ways to unload salary without having to do that.

My "realistic" free agent picks for tomorow (not in any order)
Saad, Schwartz (looks to be all but signed), Wennberg, Montour, Ceci, Mike Reilly, Tatar, Perry (looks to be tampa bound), Getzlaf, Parise, Mcginn, Michael Bunting, Ritchie, P.Suter

We'll find out tomorrow if Hex is any good at his job. This roster needs a lot of support.

I think a lot will be missing HOF'er JR who built 2 back to back cup teams. But hey we got a 36 yr old 3C now. Im sure he'll last an 82 game season filling in for Geno Broken Machino.

Nah. JR was an OG about his business. Hextalls like a sneaky little Rat, who’s actually not sneaking. Just doing nothing and collecting a paycheck while purposely making the team have a worse roster.

Nah, Mario and Burkle said GTFO. Ruth did awesome for us in the beginning and I'll give him full credit for our b2b cups. But he got in his own head and made random moves that made us worse.

Yah, JR crippled this franchise by his stupid trades the past four years. Just like he killed Carolina after he left them, he is the main reason this team is going to SUCK the next few years! Unless, Sam Pollock can be raised from the dead!

Is there any current chatter in Pittsburgh about MAF ultimately ending up there? The Hawks had cap space for this move, and I can see that the Pens didn't have it at the moment. So now the Hawks can retain salary and send MAF there, or send him there for ???
- 333inthe3rd

Id say no. I think the only "chatter" is from media and Fleury-obsessed fans still upset because they let him leave a couple years back. The Pens dont have enough cap space and dont have proper assets to ask the Hawks to retain salary.

The Pens would be better off passing this by. No they arent going to find a better regular season goalie, but should they make the playoffs with MAF, he will once again--like usual--crush his fan base by giving up the most ridiculous soft goal possible at the absolute worst possible time. Its what he ALWAYS does.

Anyone see the Ghostbusters: Afterlife trailer? Man I'm digging it. Looks way better than that trash they put out a few years ago that I didn't even watch.

For real. Women should stick to what they're good at, amrite?

Seriously though, loved the trailer. Can't wait.

I feel like you don't need real Jedi powers to pull the Jedi mind trick on Bowman.

Bowman: "We're not retaining 50% straight up for Matheson"

Hextall ***waiving his hand like a Jedi*** - "Yes you are"

Bowman: "Yes we are!"

That's been floating around the last couple of days. Who saw that coming? I mean, we have no sales tax on clothing. I don't see how that doesn't draw every player here.

Ya I know it was floating around but didn’t think he actually would. Cash is still king.
