Canucks must be clearing some cap space for a big move. Savard, Hamilton, or Eichel. We shall find out tomorrow. Savard likely ends up as a Hab though.
Meanwhile, I'm not sure how the Jets afford Nate Schmidt without some movement. Copp might be on his way now we have Statsny to fill his role. Could be Pionk though. |

Hearing Canucks big on Danneault
Jets D opening night (Rexy stop reading)
Morrissey Schmidt
Dillon Pionk
Stanley DeMelo
Heinola instead of Stanley possible |
|
|
|
Can’t criticize Chevy for taking the summer off anymore, he’s been the hardest working GM for that past 48 hours |

Does Chevy trade DeMelo. It's another possibility.

Morrissey to NJ would have made a lot of sense and still may.
Apparently they want a LHD with term.
I hope DeMelo stays especially if paired with a young Dman
Something has to happen no? Getting crowded back there |

Is this trade official or just rumor?
If official, someone is packing. Cap!

Schmidt is official
VCR reporter saying that he was told Stastny phoned Schmidt and told him about Wpg |

He must have read my post! - TheUltimateJet
Maybe he read the Times article!!
Win now mode!
2 top 4 defensemen for 2 seconds and a third. Pretty good for Chevytakethesummeroff. |

Ok, not a huge fan of this, although that could change. Wonder what Copp and Pionk were asking for?
If Nate is on his way, then someone is out of here. Pionk, DeMelo, Morrissey, Copp, (plus Niku and Beaulieu) Lowry, PLD - someone, yes someone - maybe multiple players must go.
Gawd, I wonder which ones?
Be nice to get a winger plus one 2nd rd pick back in whatever deal.

One summer in 11 years, he works for 48 hours! Yep he’s free from criticism. |

They needed the extra cap space for petterson and Hughes contracts also. |

Hope not!!
I’d say more likely they can’t come to terms with Copp and he is moved.

So with some seriously upgraded defence it does allow some of the younger forwards to potentially get more ice time next season. Do we really need Copp instead of promoting Ves. Gus, and Harkins can handle the limited ice time of a 4th line role. The savings can be made here and by trading Copp , Chevy might get some picks back.

Agree with this.
Probably going to recover some of the draft picks given up in this deal.
Hope trade is with Detroit |

Copp to a probable bottom 5 or 10 team would be great.
Younger forwards getting a legit shot would also be great, risky sure but it’s time.
Jets seem to be changing the direction and I won’t complain about that |
|
|
|
Another LHD? So, Morrisey, Schmidt, Dillion, Stanley, NIKU, Beau, Samberg, Chisholm LHD
Pionk, Demelo RHD, am I missing any other RHD Kovecevic, Gwanke, Nogier. Man that Kovecevic is huge at 6' 5" 219.
So, we now have overload in LHD so something has to give.
Edit: I forgot Heinola as another LHD, jeez |

Oh, I totally agree. Just that someone needs to go - with the most likely candidate, Copp. Will miss him, but I guess he's expendable.

I fogot Heinola as another LHD, jeez - Old Flopper
They say that although Schmidt is LH, he prefers the right side. So that should help there.

Big D. Jets are going from 6'4 219 lb Forbort to 6'4 220 lb Dillon and 6'2 199 lb Poolman to 6'0 194 lb Schmidt.
in other words the Jets starting 6 defense average height has gone down 1/3 inch and weight down 2/3's of a pound from last year. |

Didn't know that, thx for clarifying. I would think that it has to be Copp to go with Overcharge as his rep and as the team will want to keep Pionk for the right side. Hope so. |

Perhaps the Jets are getting ready to unload Morrissey? Lots of guys on the left side. Or maybe they are planning on trading one of Samberg, Heinola or Stanley for an upgrade on the right side or upfront? |

See the Jets have re-signed goalie Eric Comrie (750,000), and expect him and Berdin to act as back-up this season. Or so they say. |
