honestly before the exodus of the last 2 years they were a really well built team - DoubleDown
they were but they are incapable of keeping decent players. |

yeah but the 2021 Lightning were an anomaly. said it before but that was the deepest team i recall seeing since those Bowman-coached HOF-studded Red Wings at the turn of the century. - DoubleDown

Ryan Suter and DAL; Zach Parise and NYI; Michael Bunting and TOR; David Savard and MTL; Jaden Schwartz and SEA; Tony DeAngelo and CAR; Jaro Halak, Luke Schenn and VAN; Jake McCabe and CHI; Andrew Cogliano and SJ; Zach Hyman and EDM; David Rittich and NSH. Many more to come. - AGalchenyuk27
I am sure EK will claim he broke all those first.

Même sans Johnson, Gourde et Savard ils vont avoir une grosse équipe cette année encore. |

Tampa was 20 millions over the cap, I will disagree here. - deadpoulet
I've seen Savard play enough that I'm not drinking the kool-aid until it's forced down my gullet |

Even then...taking players who were depth in Tampa and thinking they'll excel in bigger roles in their age 30+ seasons isn't a strong strategy - Takemedrunkimhome
Ryan Ellis would have been ideal. that's the type of move i was hoping to see from MB this summer. just an off-the-radar move to land a guy whos not a superstar, but a top-pairing D.

who do you think is Bobby Mac source is for all of those? EK is highly connected with all the NHL teams, he has spies everywhere. |

It is that low bar of expectation that makes this all so depressing.

i think they've been downgraded from juggernaut to standard top-3 team/Cup contender. they also lost Coleman and Goodrow. they'd probably like to ditch Killorn. i think they're still a top contender but what made them a juggernaut was the depth. outside of Kucherov their top guys didn't do much against Montreal and they still absolutely clobbered us.

GM also loves to play hardball with his players, no loyalty given, none received. |

No disrespect intended, but geez, I find you depressing. Jesus, we just made the SCF's and the roster is far from set for the new season. How about just wait till everything is said and done before going all negative Nancy. |

i don't buy that. outside of weather and (in Canada) media, i don't think NHL players give much of a poop about the cities they play in. the amenities these guys want (restaurants, bars, broads) are available in every NHL city.
