Have to think McCabe even overpayed by about million is upgrade over z and dehann. But where is cap space and money coming from? Last i looked hawks had about 2.4 in cap space so other moves are coming have to think. Maybe also hawks brass knows what fleury's decision is already.

Ideally he and Murph would be the shutdown pair but someone is going to need to carry Jones' water and if McCabe can make Risto not suck, he can handle Jones.

Actually its 10% of the cap I believe so like $8 mil. But you have to be under on day 1 of the season so yeah 3.9 is the magic number.

They used about 700K of LTIR to sign McCabe.

IThat is wrong. McCabe is worth far more than 1.15M and I am pretty sure I saw an evolving hockey projection of slight over 4M on a 4 year deal.

I was messaging with another poster and said the same thing that Bowman could pawn off Shaw's contract ($3.9M for one more year) to free up money.

There's also de Haan getting shopped and possibly Strome, too.

I like the McCabe signing but do think it's a bit rich for someone who has injury issues and coming off major leg surgery (ACL, MCL, meniscus).

As for Khaira, I had a feeling the Hawks would kick the tires on him when it was known the Oilers were letting him and Kahun walk. Didn't see the Hawks going in on Kahun but more so Khaira especially when this offseason has shown that size and grit seem to be priorities.
