McCabe says he has been skating for a month. Should be 100% by start of camp. Wife from Downers Grove. Chicago has been his adopted home for 5 years. Per Lazerus (The Athletic) - Ztra
He had an acl. It will be interesting to see if it's healed by now. They usually take at least a year. However he says he's got zero concerns. He said his rehab hads gone really really well. Also says he's wanted to be a Blackhawk for a long time. |

I was messaging with another poster and said the same thing that Bowman could pawn off Shaw's contract ($3.9M for one more year) to free up money.
There's also de Haan getting shopped and possibly Strome, too.
I like the McCabe signing but do think it's a bit rich for someone who has injury issues and coming off major leg surgery (ACL, MCL, meniscus).
As for Khaira, I had a feeling the Hawks would kick the tires on him when it was known the Oilers were letting him and Kahun walk. Didn't see the Hawks going in on Kahun but more so Khaira especially when this offseason has shown that size and grit seem to be priorities. - Theo Fox
Its how Stan rolls - overpay and NMC

If the Hawks acquired McDavid for a 7th round pick you would find fault with it. - Ztra
Well, I mean he does make a lot of money and it's pretty significant Cap hit. Don't know about Bows but I know one poster who might take issue with the timing of the deal. |

Guys come back from ACLs all the time now. Its not like when Gale Sayers had his career ruined. |

Stan out bidding himself yet again. Like the player but that is a terrible contract for a guy coming off major knee surgery. - Elbows15

No space. Does not fit 4th line role, and not good enough for 3rd line. Will end up in LA or Buffalo - CSKA1981

Per Oiler’s Nation website.
Over the last six seasons, Khaira appeared in 258 NHL games scoring 24 goals and 63 points and held his own as a tough fourth-liner who was one of the best penalty-killing forwards in the league. |

Chicago news outlets saying McCabe has been training in the city for the past 5 offseasons at Fifth Third Arena so already has familiarity and connections.
He likely has relationships with several Hawks players like Toews and Murphy who have been skating this summer along with Wise.
New reports also talk about how McCabe's wife is from Downers Grove and their first child was born in Chicago with a second one on the way. |

Like I said to you the other day. If the red car can lap a circuit in 2 minutes and a blue car laps the same circuit in 3 minutes then some Dude tells you his “eye test” tells him the blue car looks faster, do you go with his eye test or the statistics? |

On the contrary, I’m a numbers guy, quite good at numbers actually with being a finance director. But I don’t just rely on charts and give an opinion las if I watch these players actually play. That’s just being fake. I actually watch these players play, and he’s quite good on the PK |
