Do you think the hawks pair them or split them up to balance the talent on the first and second pairings?
- paulr

Interesting, you would think they would want Jones out there everytime Kane is out, would make sense to have McCabe be the center fielder.

I'm not a fan of Khaira based on what I've seen of him, but he wasn't a penalty machine last season. I mean, he took 6 minor penalties, got into 4 fights, which really wasn't all that bad.

I'd just give up trying to argue, the guy is oddly stubborn. Jones = elite & a guy Edm let walk is a great pker. If you don't see it, your loss

Jones is Elite and juj is good on the PK, not great

Lightning re-sign Point to 8 x $9.5M, same terms as Jones.
- Theo Fox

Imagine still thinking Jones's contract is good.

Someone said some crazy thing like McDavid will score 150 points with Hyman on his line. Can't find the article now.

Sadly, I think in 4 years Hyman will be drinking beers with Clarkson in some Toronto bar watching hockey.

- Popsghostly

I must have written that article ...

As much as I like him, def gives his all, I agree on the contract looking bad on the backend.

He sucks. The guy can't get out of his own zone. The Hawks don't need more guys who bleed shots. Tho, in that bums case its more of a hemorrhage. and does it against 4th line competition.

Him and Carpenter are going to be a joy to watch together.

I'd keep S Jones and McCabe together. Assuming de Haan is still with the team, maybe something like:

McCabe - S Jones
C Jones - Murphy
de Haan - Stillman

You could probably flip flop C Jones and de Haan.

I could also see the Hawks going after one more free agent D-man on the cheap, i.e. one-year deal around $1M to have as a reserve.

This would let Mitchell, Kalynuk, and Beaudin marinate as long as needed in Rockford so they're much better in the long run for the Hawks but recall them if any of the above get injured and/or they simply prove they've hit a saturation point in the AHL and are better off in the NHL.

Haha The Blue Goose, Dave Bolland’s favorite bar in Mimico. Joking aside Hymen will be a huge pick up in Edmonton. It’s the type of player they desperately need, a guy to do the heavy lifting come playoff time. But they need more of that type.

LOL I am chuckling about how I can have the Hockey network on and am working around the house, working adding the trades that involve draft picks, and I was clueless to the two signings b/c the NHL network is rehashing so many of the older deals (or I was out of the room).

McCabe make them better defensively WHEN his ACL is ready.

Two fun notes about McCabe, other than he’s a former Wisconsin Badger, is that he was the Captain of Team USA for the 2013 World Junior Championships and helped the U.S. win Gold. One of his teammates on that 2013 World Junior Championship team was Seth Jones. Also, McCabe has called the Chicago-land area home for a while now.

His wife is from Downers Grove, he lives in Lakeview and he's been working out at Fifth Third Arena the past 5 summers.

And the Edmonton player is basically a meat and potatoes 4th line pugilist.

I think we can say Stan that Stan CAN SAY, "I tried."

Pretty much a big revamp that may mean DeBrincat won't have to go after guys and fight his own battles...

I really question Bowman's logic on not qualifying Pius Suter.. At first I thought perhaps the reason behind not qualifying Suter was perhaps both sides wanted a long-term deal but that's clearly not the case... Looks like Bowman is just letting him walk which makes absolutely no sense to me. Even if Suter wasn't in the plans moving forward, Bowman could have still qualified him then traded his rights..smh
- Savard2Secord

If they did that and it went to arbitration and the player won the arbitration the hawks would have to pay him that amount.

Better to let it slide and see if he'll negotiate after and if not he can walk.

Ahhh... I should read better. So that means Dylan is still on the first line with Stone in VGK. Didn't we have both of them at one point?

I'd give Hino 1.05M to be on our 4th line.

- Popsghostly

Yes, the Hawks did have both Sikura brothers at one point. After Dylan got traded for Pirri, Tyler parted ways with the Hogs and signed on with Jackets organization to lead the Cleveland Monsters.

Because I don’t recall that, really Guy? I actually looked back at the stats, because I was pretty sure I would remember that. He had 1 penalty out of the 4 games they played. Did your charts tell you otherwise?

The hawks and apparently everyone didn’t want to qualify him due to his arbitration rights
