So Pius Suter signed with the Wings, 2 years at $3.25 million. I can't blame the kid for wanting to get paid but I can see why the Hawks passed.

Ooh I got one for 'em

This chart has been run through a bunch of models from everything on games played, points, relative to first overall, etc. This one is game score value (factor of games/points/other). But no matter the model, the output chart and drop in value is the same.

A late first round pick is closer in value to a 3rd round pick than the 11th. This would be an interesting draft to revaluate later considering the complications with scouting this past year+.

Except when yoh look at joker beach barker Boqvist and I’m sure I’m missing others.

Maybe even dach. So maybe it’s good bowman took his own pick from him since it’s no lock he’s getting a core piece.

Btw…good to see you back here. Always appreciate your stat heavy posts even if I’m more eye test and stat combo sort of guy…..😉

Alright here goes, ideally what I would like to see from the forward group. Flame away, this would be a very nice forward group IMO.

DeBrincat - Dach - Kane
Kubalik - Toews - Reichel
Hagel - Johnson - Kurashev
Hardman - Khaira - Entwistle

Extras: Carpenter and Gaudette

Borgstrom starts in Rockford. Move on from Connolly, if it means, he is buried in Rockford, so be it. The 4th line would be an absolute pain in the ass to play against. Carpenter can shuffle in and out for Khaira depending who is playing better. Also, no Strome, I deal him for a pick, for 3 million at his salary, can be done IMO rather easily. If Nylander is the sweetener to move de Haan, fine by me as well.

Reichel?!?!?

No they didn’t but pull
Up the chart showing his earnings vs what he got to quiet the ones that were pining for a reunion.

Awful signing. Too much and too long for Marcus Kruger with the very poor goal finishing skills.

I get you hate Jones. You may be right but let’s give it a few years and revisit. He’s here to stay. This isn’t Brian Campbell. This isn’t Duncan Keith. I’m hopeful he’ll hit his prime and his ceiling. Hawks need it to work out.

- SteveRain

Campbell was performing much better when the Hawks signed him. Trust me. I was no fan of his but he was signed under very different circumstances.

You really don't wanna see a Boqvist chart. He was trending into some very good territory. TBF, some weren't as good as others but his top comp was prime Erik Karllsson. His sample size was smallish due to injuries, which are a legit concern.

And BTW. Lady B is both, also. She uses stats to back up her opinions.

Sorry.

Reichel?!?!?

Think Reichel will fit in just fine with this group. That’s where I would slot him. Any suggestions are fine by me.

Combination of signings, European signings and draft picks.

Can we give it a few years and see if Jones plays well and what the Boqvist and these other picks pan out?

I’ll laugh my ass off of Boqvist becomes a middle to lower paired guy, Columbus 12th overall pick busts, the hawks 32nd becomes a viable asset and Jones hits his prime.

See how that plays here…..but o know….all the Jones haters will say it won’t so save the replies.

- SteveRain

My fear with Boqvist are injuries.

You’re right, let’s see how this all plays out. Let’s hope Jones’ downward trending numbers turn themselves around in a new environment. And if MAF decides to play in Chicago that will certainly help. Johnson will improve the depth and the biggest thing is can Toews play a whole season and will a full year off nor impact him? I’m prepared to give them a chances even with all the questions. I’m surprised you are considering you were one of the biggest detractors when the hawks were winning cups.

Wonder if that was part of the deal when Suter signed with the Blackhawks. I don't get qualified, too bad i thought Suter had some potential, and it's true Yzerman doesn't know what he's doing. He'll do well

Hahah was about to post Bryam for Fleury with half salary retained. Get er done Stan.

There are always outliers. Same way there's always an elite player found in latter rounds. Exceptions aren't the rule. You want the higher probability, you take the higher pick. Late 1st's probability isn't close to the 11th, typically. Idk I just like better odds, personally.

And you're in luck! I'm a eye test/stats combo kinda gal lol. It's part of why I peer review tracking micro stats - literally watching the games to apply stats. Thanks for the welcome back. Cannot guarantee consistency of posting though.

I get it, there’s like 6 of you hockeybuzz besties on here. I’d just rather read people’s opinions on here that are knowledgeable on the sport and players. Some have it, some fake it. I’d rather not read the ones that fake it, that’s all. And again, don’t act like a tool.

Its a very disturbing trend of Bowman not having patience with his own players. Is the Suter the crucial piece to making a serious contender? Prolly not, but he is a useful player and Stevie Y found him useful enough to give 2 years on a decent contract.

Can't keep getting rid of useful players to chase someone you liked years ago

Dumb as rocks...wasn’t at all discussing the probability of a 3rd rounder making it to the nhl and his sustained success compared to a 1st rounder, so not sure why it was posted. I do okay in my profession, don’t patronize me, don’t be an idiot.

Think the Johnson acquisition signaled the end of Suter, but agree with everything you said. Still like a trio of centers of Dach, Toews, and Johnson if it means Strome is gone.

What are the opinions of today's moves here? I haven't finished fully formulating my thoughts on them all, I don't think.

Like in a vacuum where it's just about the players, I like the additions of McCabe and Johnson. Cap hit is high for the value of the latter.

Khaira will be interesting to watch because he's not as good as Kampf in transition with possession, but he's better at puck retrieval after dump-in. Neither can offense.

If Fleury decides to play, that's neat cause it'd be good for someone to mentor Lankinen. Need to watch out for workloads for each since Flower trailed off in the playoffs after workload finally caught up. If Flower doesn't play, not the end of the world.

Losing Suter sucks but understand the number of games played factored into not wanting to pay too much too soon.

My hope is they don't rush reicel or borgstrom unless they amazing training camps let them start in Rockford along with Mitchell and beaudin.

But you don't get it...you don't like anyone's opinion but your own....We get it...you like to be told you're right even against facts that tell you you're wrong. These pages are filled with knowledgeable people...you're not one of them. You don't have it and you're not good at faking it...in fact you don't know enough to fake it...you should probably just read these posts and have debate with yourself
