It would be nice to see the hawks pick up a first round pick in next year’s draft - paulr

The big dmen the Hawks drafted will not be NHL ready for a couple of years. By that time Chara will be retired. I wonder if he would be capable and interested in coaching these guys. Remember early in his career he was quite awkward. He could certainly relate to them. - Ztra
...four years IF they still even project on the right track ...NONE especially Noah Allen also have much work to do.
This draft has few solid guaranteed impact guys and lots of potential based on scout posts and during Covid.
Did the Hawks profit with excellent pre covid scouting?
We will see, but it may not be a good idea to count them in just yet. |

Good to have you back. I wasn't trying to discount your comment, it was an attempt at humor. But if the team can get a few more guys willing to use their body to "fight" for positioning, that is a good thing. - powerenforcer
Im always around. Its hard to talk about these Hawks, the management shenanigans, and basic disinterest with an uncompetitive team.

Wasn't he who "slow" Seabrook caught with a big hit and wrist injury in one of the opening games of the Hawks Bolts Cup Final?
Yes, he still has jump. |

I looked at Tyler Johnson's stats on cap friendly and noticed his production has fallen off slightly the past couple of seasons. Early in his career he was about at .65 PPG. The past two years he has been at .50 PPG and .40 PPG.
Just wondering if any of the analytics experts here have that fancy stat chart predicting what type of player he'll be in upcoming years. - boilermaker100
2-3 years ago Johnson was a top line guy...PP....more minutes.
The last 2 years, 3rd and 4th line. Little to no PP time. Just a victim of the Lightnings great depth. He was outstanding in the playoffs, despite playing bottom 6. He will be a great addion to our top 9....most likely in our top 6. |

I am not making a statement about the quality or future of the big young dmen in the Hawks pipeline. I am just asking if it would be a good idea to have someone like Chara work with them. |

Johnson only played 13:40 TOI mainly on 3rd line. I could see scenarios where he plays in the top six, gets a little more ice time, with some PP time, and puts up 50 points. He is only 30 and still moves pretty t well. - Ztra
As long as we don't overuse him and expect him to be a top line player, that's fine.
I believe he's defensively sound but wish someone had the analytics to sort this out.
I agree with this though. |

Ottawa may have gotten the new Tom Wilson when they selected Tyler Boucher the guy I had coming to the Hawks in the 2nd round with Lil Dacher... |

Let's not spend too much time on the new TB addition like we did Z, deH, and Gaudette.
Tyler Johnson is a pure and simple salary discard by TB to compete by using their stable of young kids to defray the Cap costs.
He is in Chicago to make Tampa Bay competitive, and he is a road tested NHL player, capable of handle the rigors of the NHL at a diminutive size.
No more, no less. |

BM100, Dobber is the bible for fantasy and they have a nice easy and quick look at some fancies. Not deep deep deep fancy stats inside the fancy stats inside the fancy stats but very easy to understand and hits on most relevant fancy stats where one doesn't need a PHD to understand the numbers.
Make sure to click on Career Stats, Line Combinations and Advanced Stats tabs and you'll get a pretty solid picture of any player, again without needing a PHD to understand the stats. ....... https://frozenpool.dobber...com/players/tyler-johnson
An aside remember when the Hawks beat TB in the Finals? It was reported afterwards this kid played that series with a broken wrist. This guy is a man, plays like a man and it helps he's a legit centerman who can win a draw and will happily play any role he's given.
Same can be said about Jones. Someone posted a solid article of Torts talking about his team and mentioned guys who checked out but Jones played hard all the way to the end and that he feels Jones should be their next Captain. High praise from a no nonsense 1/2 a maniac Torterella..... Jones is another who plays the sport like a man.

I don't know how much of a rabbit hole you need to dive into there. He's a terrible reliable guy who can slot up and down the line up as needed. Its not a bad pick up for what it is. |

Would seem to fit well opposite Kubalik on Toews line |
