Hawks will have a 3rd round pick out of the Saad/Zadorov deal. Colorado will have nothing. Think about that for a minute.

So we traded Panarin for a 3rd round draft pick?

Just had to stoke the fire.

I'll take anything for him too. Don't trade him too fast, he might need another surgery.

We have a 2nd, three 3rds, a 4th, two 6ths and a a 7th in next years draft with plenty of players we are trying to move for later round picks.

Come on Stan, put together some package deals with our excess players and picks to get us back into the first round.

If the Hawks try to move either Strome or deHaan, I would be surprised if they don't have to throw something in to avoid having to eat salary. Those extra 3rd rounders next year might not be here long.

Since they are going this route if they bring in Ryan Suter to pair with Murphy, our defense might actually be pretty good.

TSN has Suter set to sign with the Stars. It's like they know where everyone will sign before it happens.

Lose one Suter to pick up a different Suter. Pretty sneaky.

Both don't have that much term or salary. Strome is still young and put up 106 points in 156 games for us. Last year he had a down season, but his contract is only one more year at 3 mil, for a guy that can realistically come in and put up 40-60 points. They shouldn't have to retain or add anything with him.

De Haan, may be they do because of his injury risk, but still only one year until he is UFA, so he is low risk for a team.

I like the chaos. I'd like it even more if they traded coaches.

Good goaltending will hide some of the atrocious defending and they'll probably be a top 10 team minimum in the GF category, maybe top 5.

- fattybeef

Took me a while to believe the best defense is to have the puck 200 ft from your goalie. I'm a believer now. Not saying the roster will be able to do that but it's an angle especially if Go Johnny Go is back and healthy, a solid looking top 6 and Johnson centering L3.

And Jones slotting on the 1st pairing pushes guys like Murphy down where they are more properly slotted. That is really really huge............ Back that up with Lankanin and MAF in goal and who knows.

I've liked the Flyers going back to the 70's and really enjoyed the chaos that is their offseason every yr but it doesn't feel the same when the Hawks are doing it. ... Don't know if it's trepidation that StanBow is calling the shots, executing a plan where there is no plan but it's scarier to me than it is fun.

I’ll even fly him to Calgary myself, which I can do, right after I’m finished making lunch

Out of left field here but maybe Stan is trying to ice a competitive team this season and make 1 more run while still doing rebuild/retool. If that is the case then I expect another vet D so be signed, if DeHaan is moved. Toews, (if healthy), Dach, and Johnson is probably the strongest the Hawks have been at center in a long time.

Lot of contracts up in a couple years.

Those 1st round picks hurt but presumably Seth Jones is still your top pairing guy in 3-4 years and can anchor the backend after the rebuild/retool is complete. Borgstrom and Reichel are presumably your top 6 guys to go along with Dcat and Dach.

Need a couple of the D prospects to become top 4 caliber. Issue is you probably need one more top end prospect on D and forward.

The Hawks had Sharp Toews and Kane in the top 6 and went out and signed Hossa. So adding a key piece via free agency is an option in a 3-4 years.

From TSN:

Can the Blackhawks contend for a playoff spot with Marc-Andre Fleury in net and Seth Jones on the blue line? Right now, Vegas (+750) has the third-shortest odds to win the Stanley Cup - Chicago is 23rd on that list (+6000). https://t.co/6LAMOIFXJ6 pic.twitter.com/3J3N1iPIK1

With all the goalies flying off the board, it's Marc-Andre Fleury or bust for the #Blackhawks  right now.

Even if he plays in Chicago, how happy is Fleury going to be? Does it affect his play? I’d say it’s unlikely an unhappy Fleury, playing behind a weaker defensive team, is going to be anywhere near Vezina caliber.
- Ogilthorpe2

Oh, there's risk. MAF pissed he was traded, pissed at how VGK did it and to a team that gives up the most SOG..... No doubt MAF on this Hawk squad will not be the one we watched this last yr.

One more thing. The way StanBow is active right now if MAF decides 3 weeks from now he's retiring it's safe to assume Stan would have made moves given that 7 mil in cap space, and dictate to get fans in the building, that is now eaten up......... Not sure if that's good or bad though.

Coming off a major knee injury. He was a +2 in 13 games. Good defensively and plays physical.

He is the only D partner to make Risto useful. He is solid. His problem ahs been staying healthy. Plays a physical game.

He is miles better than Z.
